TCS London Marathon 2023 šŸ”„ 02:43:40 šŸ”„ Official Results- 14th woman home out of 20,172 and 10th Brit šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ It’s bloody grand when a hobby brings you so much joy. 🄰 Funny how you get good at the things you love. 6.13 min/mile average - I couldn’t believe it when I was running and I still can’t believe it now. Huge thanks to Colchester Harriers @chac.1982 for their unbridled support and cheering and welcoming me into the green family. šŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ’š and of course to British Army Sport, British Army Athletics and British Army Triathlon for letting me muscle my way into everything they do! Please see Photo 3 for a perfect example of a heel strike and a toe strike. Do not copy me šŸ˜‚

We had @rosierunningwild in this morning for a bike fit follow up, as well as making her some insoles for her new @lakecyclinguk shoes. Small changes made that have made Rosie a lot more comfortable and confident in position šŸ”„ most importantly we widened the width on her poles so she can more comfortably control the bike and be in a more relaxed position with her head - she will go away and try this and see if it works better for her out on the roads. @britisharmytriathlon

šŸš“šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Power vs šŸ’£ Firepower There’s a very, very, very niche group of people who can’t decide if the Pinarello F7 or the 8-inch Smooth Bore Muzzle Loading (SBML) are better in black. Both lay down some serious power. šŸ˜‰ I’m here for the variety of my life šŸ–¤ 🚲 Pinarello F7 in Stealth Black with @inaspin.mswax rainbow chain. Carries a ~63kg rider. From @pronto.bikes shop. 7kg. šŸ’£ Smooth Bore Muzzle Loading ā€œBhurtporeā€ 8 inch Shell Gun. From the Seige of Bharatpur. Fires a ~60-pound projectile. 18,035kg.

London Marathon 2026. 2hrs 49mins A scattering of thoughts: positive, negative, develop, sustain. 100% personal to me. 100% subject to change. I was nervous going into the race as I knew that my preparation and training hadn’t been ā€˜specific’ to the race (āœ‹šŸ¼ that is not to say I ā€œdidn’t train for itā€ lol, I just mean that the specificities of my sessions are focused on different goals later in the year) but it meant that the outcome and my performance felt pretty unpredictable (or are they ever?). I’d also DNF’d last year with a random quad issue that I still haven’t been able to explain (think it is nutrition/hydration related, not MSK). And so I had no specified goal time, but as always with Rosie Wild, high expectations of my own ā€œperformanceā€. I guess I just wanted to put it all out there and leave nothing in the tank. 🤷 Essentially, go hard, play with fire, and suffer the consequences. šŸ”„ but if that were totally true then surely I’d be satisfied with the result? No. As it was, off I went, hard as nails, steel springs… and suffer I did 🤣. The same random and unexplained quad issue popped up at the same spot, but this time I chose to scale back and try and manage it, which I just about did, if ugly. So my right quad blew up before my body may well have done, I guess I’ll never know what if. But probably. I think though that is what endurance sports are all about- that’s the high risk high reward world we are in- there are SO many variables that could derail a marathon, and the majority of them are controllable and preventable; human error. Preparation and execution mistakes. I’m owning mine. I wasn’t ready, I aimed off without being honest even to myself, I suffered the consequences. Bon appĆ©tit. I bloody love the flogging, and in hindsight I’d do it again, until I can execute ā˜ŗļø Thank you coach @samproctortri for bearing with. Proud to represent the @britisharmysport @armyathleticsassociation and take 3rd in the Inter Services Competition, with a team win šŸ† great showing from the Gunners too @royal_artillery @royal_artillery_athletics @intellitri

Gimme a flapjack and watch me spring. 🫦 **NB Any likeness to Boris Johnson is firmly restricted to our stamina and energy source choices. And being hard as nails. And our choice of doing Latin and Ancient Greek at university. And our hair. But THAT’S IT. šŸŽ„: @jamesmitchell5 Model: Boris Johnson

No but real talk on the last rep mid-VO2 Max speed the treadmill cut off and I flew off it because the touch screen was so covered in sweat it said it was unresponsive and I had to sheepishly wipe down the machine before it let me start again. šŸ« šŸ˜… Anyway. I hadn’t been on a treadmill in 5 years and then this year I committed to doing some speed work on it because I have a mental block about running speed work- I’m SO comfortable ā€˜going slowly’ because I can control my knee and the impact (I have had 4 knee operations)- so I have been trying to boost my confidence in a controlled and ā€˜safe’ environment where I can jump on the hamster wheel and scurry away with my 200rpm cadence and know I can hold that fast pace safely. (Thank you for your help @samproctortri and @intellitri . I get the choice, and I choose tough love) Then bish bash bosh go outside and send it like a little daschund hamster mongrel. Sherlock Holmes can’t solve the mystery how my feet don’t leave the floor when I run. I’ll give Ā£2 to anyone who ever manages to get a photo of me with both feet in the air. See ya love ya 🫔

All Day, Every Day.šŸ’„ New bike. Same legs. Locking in. It’s all the simple things now: stacking days, consistency, monotony, discipline, and commitment. I waited years to ā€˜reward’ myself with a bike upgrade until I deemed my legs and my effort worthy of it, so now the hard work starts maintaining that. ā€œYou’re a nut job, you eat bin bagsā€ šŸŽ„ @jamesmitchell5 šŸ”‹ @samproctortri and @intellitri Bike fit @precise.performance Kit @pronto.bikes 🧠 @britisharmysport @britisharmytriathlon

Turns out, shouting ā€œDaddy My Daddyā€ when someone emerges from a thick mist is not a universally understood reference. You just come across as odd. šŸ˜… Educating @kellie.branagan on her 1970s classic film knowledge.

Rosie on a bike, what’s new? Well the bike is, the photos are, and most importantly, I feel good again. šŸ˜ It’s on me now to keep this momentum up. Back to work with a spring in my step and volume in my legs. šŸ”„ my friends, I feel races a’coming! @precise.performance fitted me to the bike just before I left so a few tweaks here and there but I have been super happy and comfortable with the feel of it. šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ šŸ“ø all @jamesmitchell5 of course 😊
