The quiet, devout daughter of a priest, is cast as the Grand Inquisitor in a theater adaptation of Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, yet she struggles to play the man who tortures Jesus Christ and condemns Him to a second death. This is a story about someone who never had a voice, finally being given a stage - the priest becomes the audience, and his quiet daughter preaches blasphemy at the pulpit. It’s about asking dangerous questions about control and freedom in a place you‘re never supposed to. It’s about inevitable rebellion—and also the love that comes afterwards. Excited to share that my short film Rat City Symphony has been accepted into the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival @phillyaaff , showing in the “Love Stories Before Dawn” program! (Online streaming from November 7-17) This project was my first-year film at Columbia, and making it was a total adventure. Huge thanks to the amazing cast and crew who were down for anything—from grabbing shots of a rat in the freezing wind to sprinting through a packed Times Square at midnight. 很高兴制片项目“大姐，贤惠”拿到了哥大的制作奖金！在我转读电影之前，我写过一个道教葬礼的故事。没想到有一天我真的会参与制作关于一场道教葬礼的短片，只不过，这一次是在台湾。一衣带水，海峡两边的人经历相同的悲欢。作为家里的大姐，我理解故事里的主角“贤惠”，年过半百，却还是难以接受世界的不平等。爱和一切资源一样具有排他性，当生者已逝，你要怎样和无法再回应你的母亲达成和解？ 影片将于今年在台湾拍摄，很感谢大家对影片的支持和帮助!
