Super proud career moment to see episode 8, the final episode, of #N1N0BEYOND going live today. This culminating episode has been nearly 2 years in the making and has been a dream project to be a part of.

Big kudos to @andrewashworth for seeing the bigger picture throughout and bringing something together that highlights the defining moments of @nschurter ’s life and career.
 A personal highlight is getting to be at the Lenzerheide World Cup on the ground and back on the tools. 🎥 It was wild to see what these athletes can do in person.

It’d been 18 months since I’d last properly ridden a mountain bike and a whopping 7 years since I’d last raced one. So I figured the best way back was to rip the proverbial bandage off and race the final 10 @ Kirroughtree organised by @gallowayhillbillies . After 10 hours of legit pain (6 hours on the verge of cramps) I managed to ride above my own expectations with a 6th place overall solo finish. The proverbial bandage was swiftly replaced with an actual bandage as obviously I crashed and cut my elbow open. 🤦‍♂️ Couldn’t have had a better support crew with @keo44 shoving carbs into me every 45 minutes. She’s obviously got the knack for deciphering my clear and direct nutritional instructions (slide #4) 8.5 hours into the race. @tweedlovefest Glentress 7’s in a few weeks for another day of physical stress. ✌️

I can’t count how many hours of interview footage I’ve watched since filming of N1NO BEYOND started but it’s a real privilege to get so immersed in their stories - despite having never met them! I could not be more pleased with this edit. 🎞️ It’s not every day you get to piece together the unique story of the greatest rivalry that cross country mountain biking has ever seen in this way - an informal chat between the two legends themselves, watching back key race moments and riding bikes together for the first time ever outside of a race. I could pretend that @keo44 and I’s race prep is dialled but the reality is it’s a bit of a mess and we don’t really know what we’re doing yet so here’s a glimpse of our #chaoscamping the day before @gravelfoyle_events Grand Old Dukes. I’m sure we’ll get better at it. It’s been such a long time from big days out on the bike that require actual preparation but ultimately G.O.D was about seeing what I could do 3 months to the day after freefalling off my mountain bike into the ground head first at Glentress and hitting double digit injuries. Especially proud of @keo44 and her biggest ride to date ( - on any surface let alone off road - with a 3rd place female finish at G.O.D all while dealing with a chronic illness that puts far more stress on her body than a crash did to mine. #socksandslidersforever #gravelfoyle #grandolddukes

This is my helmet. There are many like it but this one is mine. And three days ago it protected me from a severe TBI. I came away from a huge OTB over a tabletop jump at Glentress this weekend (pic 2 is the actual incident) with 9 fractures and an AC joint ligament tear. Despite 9 fractures and a very, very sore body, I consider myself very lucky to be able to walk and more importantly talk. No headaches, no nausea and a cognitive assessment pass all because of a well made helmet. Two nights in Edinburgh Royal’s major trauma ward and I’m back home with @keo44 and @otisoutdoors recovering. So here’s my PSA: check your helmet for damage or deterioration today and replace if needed because they work really damn well. Included the video of me jumping successfully to prove to myself that despite years of thinking I wouldn’t be able to learn to jump, I actually can. After 20 days of back-to-back editing, 8 In the Dust shows delivered, 9 different bivouacs, 6 dead SSDs, the most insane sunrise and sunsets you’ve ever seen, a bollock load of stress (mostly directed at Premiere Pro) and loads of other things I’ve lost track of, I can actually say Dakar was pretty fun. Absolute shift by the @cutmedia lot out there - it couldn’t have been a better crew. Particular highlight was a sunrise(ish) jaunt up the Empty Quarter dunes with birthday boy @shotbydunn who snapped some amazing photographs and even made me look half decent running on them.

Last night was the world premiere of With the Seasons, a documentary I’ve been working on for the last six or so months and a project that has lasted nearly two years for @jimmyhyland_ . A positive COVID test the morning before meant I couldn’t attend which was beyond gutting. Would have loved to have seen the film we worked on for so long on the big screen and see audience reactions to the monumental efforts of @callum.johnson.climbing through all 4 seasons in some of the most awesome Scottish landscapes. I’m so pleased to hear that the audience turn out was more than twice the expected number and big ups to @jimmyhyland_ for putting on what sounded like a great evening. This film is @jhpvisuals putting their stamp on adventure storytelling so plans for distribution are ambitious. Can’t wait to share details to take With the Seasons to a wider audience.
