Long story short, here’s how this all happened: I was invited to speak at the San Diego International Children’s Film Festival during Comic-Con this year. I wanted to offer something to the kids, and a coloring book seemed like a fun idea. I had no idea that this simple coloring book would have such a profound effect on so many people. The kind words I received afterwards inspired me to publish it on Amazon. A big thank you to Dan Bennet for inviting me to attend and speak this year!
Here’s the longer explanation on how it was made (from the book’s intro):
“Someday Everything Will Be Okay” is by no means
a guarantee, but it is meant to be a ray of hope and another way of saying: you are not alone.
I recently found an old sketchbook filled with characters long forgotten. I don’t remember what I was thinking when I originally sketched them, but while flipping through the pages, I felt a solidarity with them. Their eyes were filled with emotions, some that have inspired me year after year, and others that have stopped me dead in my tracks.
So instead of leaving the sketches on a shelf,
waiting for me to share them “someday,” I decided to compile this book, add text to reflect those feelings, and clean up the drawings.
The surprising part was, as I organized the pages and darkened the outlines, a soothing calm washed over me. I guess that’s a gift from freeing these creatures that were hidden away for so long.
I hope this little book brings you joy and a few giggles as you color your way to a better “someday.”
