Artists Athletes Activists is dedicated to welcoming people with dignity. Since August 2022, we’ve helped migrants and asylum seekers navigate New York’s shelter system and city services. We linked them to legal support, health care, and education. We created a youth soccer team, art activities, and a kitchen to share traditional meals. At the heart of it, we create space for people to feel safe and connect. Everyone deserves respect and care. We are volunteer-run and need help to keep our community center open. Please donate via our website (link in the bio) and all funds go directly to help our newest neighbors in New York. We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with @metrobaptistnyc . A huge thank you to @nytimes specifically Winnie Hu and @heislerphoto for capturing our efforts (article link in the bio.)♥️

Regardless of the city abruptly moving its operations from Port Authority bus terminal, Artists Athletes Activists will continue to show up and welcome migrants and asylum seekers arriving to NYC. Since Day 1, we’ve been a 24/7 migrant mobile help desk and we will continue doing our part to serve this vulnerable population. We are actively looking for a space near the new arrival center at the Roosevelt Hotel. We have not been invited to set up there, yet we will continue linking people to services. Our goal remains to support and connect migrants and asylum seekers to resources and services with care and dignity ♥️ —with @powermalu @abah9 @candice.braun @robertjgonzalezp @madelinecohodes

It finally feels like it's time to move out the Winter wardrobe, and switch it completely to Spring. Removing the clothes that you won't be wearing for the next few months makes it easier to see what you have and speeds up your selection process when you are getting dressed. When you find things that you are no longer wearing consider donating them to organizations that can put them to good use. @roccnyc and @thebottomlesscloset are two local organizations in NYC that help to support people by upcycling gently used clothing. Try removing things you won't be wearing and let me know in your comments if this is helpful xo Cuban Barbie . . #closet #organization #fashionista #style #fashion

With empathy and compassion, ROCC NYC (Resources, Opportunities, Connections and Community) connects vulnerable New Yorkers to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive in our great city. In 2022, they started greeting buses of immigrants at Port Authority, providing a first point of welcome for the city’s newest residents, and have continued this work at their Hell’s Kitchen resource center ever since. They remain focused on supporting some of NYC’s most vulnerable, and work in partnership with a multitude of trusted legal and social services providers. ROCC NYC builds bridges connecting immigrants to resources and supportive communities, creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and included. From marching with them to cheering from afar, I’m proud to support @roccnyc and encourage you to do the same.
