Rob Silver | Cinematography Reel 🎬 I’m stepping away from the traditional “yearly recap.” Instead, this reel will live and evolve, updated as new work is made. Not every project here was filmed in 2025, but every one of them matters to me and reflects the direction I’m moving in. You’ll notice there are no performance shots. That’s intentional. As I head into 2026, my focus is shifting fully toward narrative work. That said, 2025 was deeply formative. I met incredible people, worked on meaningful projects and most importantly, found clarity in where I want my life and work to go. To everyone I collaborated with this year: your trust, time, and belief mean more than I can put into words. I’m endlessly grateful, and I can’t wait to keep creating together. Here’s to making 2026 not just the best year yet, but the clearest. ❤️

I bought a Konica IIIA! It came out in 1958 — the same year my Mom was born — which made me unexpectedly emotional. I’ve wanted a fully mechanical rangefinder for a long time. No weird batteries. No menus. Just a strange little machine that sees the world differently. There’s something beautiful to me about carrying around this little machine from the same year my Mom entered the world and using it to capture small stories as life keeps moving. Friends. Strangers. Ordinary moments that won’t exist the same way again. The IIIA was one of the last great fixed-lens Japanese rangefinders before SLRs took over, and it already feels like the kind of camera that makes everyday life more intentional. It’ll definitely force me to get better at reading light and exposing by instinct (with a light meter nearby for now). Why I switched to @reddigitalcinema 🎥 MODULARITY On larger-scale shoots, my crew and I kept running into the FX3’s limitations. The KOMODO-X is built for flexibility—small enough to fit anywhere, but fully modular when we need to build it out. Clean, adaptable, and designed for real production environments. IMAGE QUALITY 6K 16-bit RAW is no joke—on storage or on capability. The flexibility in post is on another level. You can push and pull the image without it falling apart. For me, it’s about longevity. I want my footage to hold up years from now. This gets me there. GLOBAL SHUTTER I shoot a lot handheld. A global shutter eliminates that “jello” effect from rolling shutter and gives motion a more natural feel. It’s subtle—but once you see it, you can’t unsee it. GROWTH This system demands intention. You have to get it right in-camera. FX3s are incredible for speed, but they can make it easy to plateau. I wanted something that pushes me to be more deliberate as a filmmaker. This does exactly that. IMPRESSION Not the main reason—but it matters. RED carries weight. It signals a certain level of production, and that perception can open doors.
