Got a couple stills to share from a recently self imposed challenge that was devised by @sid_g007
The goal was to only use a single light source but it couldn’t be a film light. So I decided to do the classic “staring at self in mirror and splashing water on face” scene. All it took were the 4 light bulbs above my bathroom sink, a white bed sheet and a few pieces of black fabric.
Everything was shot on my canon eos rebel t8i with a canon ef 50mm f/1.8 lens which can apparently yield some good results under the right circumstances. Anyways, this was a fun little exercise and if we do any more of these in the future you might see em.

I know this is late but I still wanted to share some of my favorite work as a gaffer from last year. 2025 was a big year for both my personal and professional growth. I ended the year with new confidence and pride because I could see all the progress I’ve made.
I owe it all to the support of each of my wonderfully talented friends and collaborators who gave me these opportunities to do what I love to do. A big thanks to anyone who gave me the chance to work along side them on their projects in any shape or form and for all you’ve taught me along the way. A special thanks to @robsilvervisuals and @sid_g007 for me their continued support.
There’s still so much to learn but thats the fun of it, right? I can’t wait to work with more DPs and gaffers in 2026. Let’s make stuff.

Had some fun today doing some shot re-creations in the apartment. Gotta get the reps in when you can đź’Ş
We are both really happy with how the first one came out in regard to the reference shot. The trickiest thing about it was getting just the right amount of blue on the talent’s neck and shoulders which Adam accomplished with an Aputure MC (after I overcomplicated it with a panel and gels).
Note from Rob: I wish we had done more to go for the yellow-hue that is in the reference shot. Part of it may be due to the different colors of the blanket. But that is my only qualm. It is still a beautiful shot whether or not it’s one-to-one.
It was also really interesting to try to re-create the facial shadows in the black-and-white shot. I feel like we got it 90% of the way there. The last 10% will have to wait another 40 years so my skin can get the right wrinkles to cast the right shadows.

This one is for the camera nerds out there. It’s also a long one. Before I say anything else, I want to make it clear that we are saying “neg” for “negative fill.”
We came up with some dope stuff. The unbleached muslin feels like a cheat code. I think our favorite was the 600 +16in Softbox through Unbleached Muslin, but we are still figuring out the best way to go about diffusing and getting soft light with what we have, so definitely drop some tips or things for us to try in round two (also, make sure to check out the video on YouTube to avoid instagram’s compression - not that YouTube’s is any better).

Hey everyone! I'd like to formally announce the short film that I've been working on: A Grave Situation. It's a horror comedy about a pair of at-odds redneck graverobbers whose relationship is put to the test when the corpse they dig up rises from the dead. It will be my last project as a student at Towson University and the first where I try directing something of this scale. I'm super happy to be on this journey with my amazing team and can't wait to bring the story to life.
