“…but he was good to me”
Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd goes surprisingly well with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. A few lyrics that ring out to me:
“Did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts?” Not only Baelor, a role model for Dunk and what it means to be chivalrous, but Ser Arlan as well. Both traded for ghosts.
“Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?” Dunk arrived at Ashford Meadow nothing more than an ant in a field of giants. He left well known by all who attended, but not the way he imagined.
“We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, year after year.” Dunk and Ser Arlan, now Dunk and Egg. Wanderers of the countryside, looking to be of use, and finding purpose through that search.
My favorite show in some time.

“Plenty of sons have died in their father’s armor. How many fathers have died in their son’s?”
The tragedy of Baelor Breakspear is one of my favorite pieces of Westerosi history. His death is Shakespearian in nature, slain by his own brother in an accidental blow to the back of the head while wearing his son’s armor. I also found this Bob Dylan classic to connect to Baelor surprisingly well, as it describes an officer of the law (or in this case, the realm) facing his own death. Hopefully I did both the song and the story justice with this edit.

Another edit for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, this one is much slower. I wanted to focus on the themes of fatherhood, identity and creating your own name for yourself that are present in the show (while also showing off the beautiful cinematography). And I couldn’t have found a better song to accompany it than this one.

Maggie Powers - November 23rd, 2013-September 26th, 2023
Two months ago our family had to say goodbye to our wonderful dog Maggie. She would have turned 10 years old today. She was my sister, my best friend, my companion, and one of the best living beings I have ever known. Maggie loved everyone, and everyone loved Maggie. She brought joy to so many people wherever she went, and we are going to miss her so much ❤️
