@robertmontgomeryghost is a poet, installation artist, conceptual artist, public artist, thinking about language as a way to intervene into our lives and bring a spiritual and personal experience to our public arenas. He is a like a street poet in the 21 century sense.Listen to @epricco ’s full conversation with Montgomery on a stage during this year’s @nuartaberdeen festival on The Unibrow Radio (link in bio)#robertmontgomery #theunibrow #nuartfestival #nuartaberdeen #poetry@robertmontgomerystudio @nuartfestival
Not Venice, but Aberdeen where we installed the largest lightwork we’ve ever made for @nuartaberdeen . An 11 metre wide piece for Bon Accord baths. I wanted to celebrate Persian and Iranian poetry so the piece begins with a first line from the great 14th century poet Hafez Shirazi. The rest of the text is a prayer for us to show an attitude of welcome and inclusion towards migrants and those seeking peace and shelter in these troubled times. The final refrain, ‘DO NOT LET THEM FORGET THE LOVE” also appears around the streets of Adberdeen on walls and as stickers. Thank you to Martyn Reed, Stella Kalidies, Olivia Skalkos and the whole Nu Art team for your amazing curation and support in making this project happen 🌞 EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME THE SUN NEVER SAYS TO THE EARTH ‘YOU OWE ME’ LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WITH A LOVE LIKE THAT A WHOLE WORLD BLOOMS. IT’S THE LOVE THEY ARE FORGETTING, THE LOVE THE SUN GIVES DOWN TO THE EARTH TO BE SHARED WITH EVERY TRAVELLER EVERY MIGRANT. DO NOT LET THEM FORGET THE LOVE 🌞

We love this from @robertmontgomeryghost . It pops so beautifully on a sunny Friday evening. Two great pieces of work for @nuartaberdeen this year. Amazing.

Even After All This Time the Sun Never Says to the Earth "You Owe Me"
Staged inside the atmospheric Bon Accord Baths, the work transforms one of Aberdeen’s most distinctive spaces into the site of a poetic public encounter.

My installation for @nuartaberdeen opening now at the old Bon Accord baths. The poem begins with a line from the great 14th century Persian (Iranian) poet Hafez Shirazi. Thank you forever Martyn Reed and all the @nuartaberdeen team. We will not let them forget the love.
Bazı şehirler sadece yaşanmaz, onlara şiirler yazılır. 🕊️
Point Bornova Residence çatısında yer alan Robert Montgomery imzalı enstalasyon, İzmir’in binlerce yıllık hikayesini modern bir ışıkla taçlandırıyor.

Robert Montgomery
The Billboards Are All We Have Left for Poetry This Morning and the Signs on the Walls Shriek Like Parrots
Robert Montgomery was born in Scotland, where he studied painting at Edinburgh College of Art and developed a deep passion for poetry. There he began a journey of experimenting with words and visuals, looking at the various ways they can be associated. After moving to London in the early 2000s, he began creating "visual poems" – installation pieces with text – onto billboards. In doing so, Montgomery made art and poetry both readily accessible for all, whilst simultaneously subverting the traditional symbols of capitalism in the public sphere.
Driven by melancholy, yet animated by the action-led effects of his practice, Montgomery's work both responds to socio-political urges and yet proposes a quiet moment for thoughts. Oscillating between lyricism and politics, Montgomery offers a tangible manifestation of poetry.

More spaces to be transformed by @nuartaberdeen have been revealed – including a stunning 11-meter long work by world-acclaimed artist @robertmontgomeryghost@robertmontgomerystudio at the iconic @savebonaccordbaths
Robert’s installation will mark a return to the street art festival for the Scottish artist who was at the heart of the first Nuart Aberdeen in 2017, with his text-based work at Jopps Lane becoming a much-loved part of the cityscape.
The location of his work was revealed as Aberdeen Inspired, which stages Nuart Aberdeen in partnership with @aberdeen_cc submitted applications for several walls and spaces to become the canvas for participating artists, later this month.
These range from the side of Chapel Street car park, to the North East Scotland College at the Gallowgate, the Ibis Hotel on Shiprow, to a gable at the Merkur Casino on Summer Street.
