“Becomes a Home” is out now! Here is the lyric follow-along booklet and location map for each track. We wanted to create an album that was completely continuous and immersive where each song existed in a different room or space as you walk through a house. We recorded the majority of the album in @nickyy0ung ’s family’s lake house upstate. We recorded all the textures of the space; wind rattling the window, every creaking footstep and the crunch of leaves and snow, the clunk of a lock, an actual meal being cooked, etc. Both having grown up in rural Massachusetts and now living in NYC we wanted to create a nature filled cozy space that you can tuck into sonically and reset when the world and all its questions become too overwhelming. It’s been one month since @residentlightweight ’s debut album 𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒂 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆 was released. A concept album that takes place in a house, each song is encountered while walking through it and finding little scraps of the past and inklings of new beginnings. “To the Places I Used to Know” live voice memo version from my childhood back porch and around my old neighborhood. This song is the second track on the album and the very first song I wrote for this project back in 2021. To me it encapsulates the great mourning of childhood, and a misty eyed acceptance that home has grown with you. You can stream the whole studio version anywhere you get your music! -RL 🏠🌿
