Mnemosyne's liquid mirror...
🇮🇳
To the person who accompanies us, we never say, "Look, I'm going to make ricochets." Everything is in the unsaid, almost second degree, but not quite all the same. If you attempt to make ricochets, you don't want to make fun of yourself. Philippe Delerm, The ecstasy of the selfie, Seuil, 2019

Untitled ( RICOCHET(S) )
Immersive installation, Black paint, natural fish net and mirrors, 2022
Strikethrough Messages by the french artist RERO are set up at Sassoon Docks in Mumbai with the support of the St+art India Foundation to present an immersive installation that questions our relationship to the universal solvent, water.
With Ricochet(s), water speaks. Water tells us about itself, about us, about our interdependence, about its magic, about its tragic beauty but also about our fears about it. Through Mnemosyne's liquid mirror, water is a cosmic element, water that washes, has become the source of memory, the fountain of culture and has acquired feminine traits, as Ivan Illich wrote in the waters of oblivion.
The installation come into resonance of the Yoga’s term Swadhyay literally means "study of the self". Swadhyay is " a journey to work out a unity in a multiverse of cultures and world views, of harmonizing the self with a network of relationships, of creating and maintaining vital connections between self, society, and God, of knowing and enriching human action with sacredness. » To look at yourself…not just as a selfie…
