Exposition à ciel ouvert du 18 septembre au 26 octobre 2023 au coeur de Paris UPDATE est un parcours de sculptures monumentales dans l’espace public produit par le Fonds de dotation Gilles Treuil en partenariat avec le Comité du Faubourg Saint-Honoré @comitefaubourgsainthonore et organisé par Nicolas Couturieux @nicolascouturieux et David-Hervé Boutin @davidherveboutin (L’Art dans la ville) . Conçue en 2012 par RERO @rerostudio en collaboration avec Stéphane Parain @stephaneparain , cette série de bustes voit de nouveau le jour. Déclinée pour l’occasion en format XXL, elle investit trois lieux emblématiques du centre de Paris ( voir localisations sur le plan ) et vient mettre en perspective leur histoire et leur évolution. La création de chacune des œuvres obéit à un même principe : la confrontation entre les codes esthétiques de la statuaire classique et un ensemble de termes empruntés à la culture numérique, écrits en lettres capitales et barrés d’un trait. Pour l’artiste, dont l’œuvre sonde depuis plus de dix ans les contradictions et paradoxes contemporains, cette juxtaposition de deux époques et deux modes de représentation, l’un matériel, l’autre immatériel, nous invite à mesurer l’évolution des techniques. UPDATE permet aussi de saisir l’architecture du pouvoir contemporain : à sa mise en scène à l’âge classique par la statuaire et l’aménagement urbain, succède son organisation contemporaine sous forme d’hypertexte, de mots clés, de codes informatiques et d’algorithmes. Des sites emblématiques, puisque Antoine Coypel, personnage représenté par le buste monumental, fut le peintre de Louis XIV et de Louis XV, deux rois qui ont pensé le quartier Madeleine / Concorde, reliés aujourd’hui encore par la rue Royale. With Ricochet(s), water speaks. Water tells us about itself, about us, about our interdependence, about its magic, about its tragic beauty but also about our fears about it. Through Mnemosyne's liquid mirror, water is a cosmic element, water that washes, has become the source of memory, the fountain of culture and has acquired feminine traits, as Ivan Illich wrote in the waters of oblivion. The installation come into resonance of the Yoga’s term Swadhyay literally means "study of the self".
