This was not a ceremony.
It was a working session.
At the State House, Abuja, voices from government, civil society, development partners, traditional institutions, faith-based organisations, and communities across Nigeria gathered for the soft launch of the Saving Our Mothers Campaign.
Microphones were passed. Statements were made. Sector by sector, the message was the same: this matters, and we are moving.
The Saving Our Mothers Campaign is the flagship maternal health initiative of the RenewHER Presidential Women’s Health Transformation Initiative — anchored in Ministry priorities, aligned with SWAp and MAMII, and designed to strengthen utilisation of existing services across Nigeria.
No woman should die giving life.
Not because we lack solutions. Because the system didn’t reach her in time.
We will reach HER.

“No woman should die giving life.”
I had the honor of joining the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women’s Health, Dr. Adanna Steinacker @dr_adanna at the State House for the soft launch of the “Saving Our Mothers” campaign.
This initiative strongly aligns with our priorities at the FCTA. Across the FCT, our health programming has remained focused on strengthening primary healthcare systems and expanding access to skilled birth attendance ensuring that no woman or newborn is left behind.
As part of the @renew__her RenewHER Presidential Women’s Health Transformation Initiative, this flagship campaign serves as a national advocacy and health literacy engine. We see it not as a parallel effort, but as a complementary platform one that reinforces and amplifies the work already underway at the sub-national level.
When women are informed, communities are mobilized, and health services are responsive, outcomes improve significantly and sustainably.
I look forward to deepening collaboration with OSSAP-WH to ensure that these national efforts translate into measurable, life-saving impact across our communities.
Together, we can build a health system that truly works for every woman, every child, everywhere.

Happy 65th Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬✨
“Imagine a future where our communities act with courage, move with urgency, and lead with accountability.
A future where renewal, equity, and reform are not just words spoken, but realities lived.”
We are working every day to turn this vision into action, creating spaces where women’s health is protected, voices are amplified, and futures are secured.
This Independence Day reminds us that true freedom is only complete when every Nigerian woman has the opportunity to thrive and live to her fullest potential.
Here’s to a healthier, more compassionate, and unstoppable Nigeria. 💚🤍💚

“If a woman is the seed, then is she not the garden?” 🌱
At the RenewHER Gala, Nigerian poet and UN Global Advocate for Peace and Security, Maryam Hassan Bukar @alhanislam gave us words that shook the room and reminded us why we are here.
We are here to break old patterns.
To lift the weight off our sisters’ backs.
To create a future where our daughters can stand tall in their brilliance.
These words cut to the heart of RenewHER’s mission to serve as Nigeria’s central coordinating platform for women’s health—mobilising public, private, and civil society actors to co-invest in scalable, sustainable, and community-driven solutions.
It is time to RenewHER. đź’ś

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among Nigerian women aged 15–44, claiming thousands of lives every year 💔
But here’s the good news: last year, the Nigerian Governors’ Spouses Forum set out to vaccinate 8 million girls against HPV and ended up protecting 12 million.
This is why at RenewHER, we’re proud to stand with the Nigerian Governors’ Spouses Forum @ngs_forum in pushing for even more access to healthcare in underserved communities because every girl deserves protection, no matter where she lives.
Join us on this journey as we rewrite the story of every Nigerian girl đź’š

Maternal health in Nigeria is beginning to show signs of progress. In the last three years, maternal deaths have dropped by over 15% — that’s more than 7,000 mothers’ lives saved every year.
This progress is thanks to the tireless work of initiatives like MAMII (Maternal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative) under the Federal Ministry of Health, working to strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare nationwide.
RenewHER is proud to spotlight and support this mission because protecting mothers means giving every baby a healthy start in life.
Every mother deserves safe delivery, consistent care, and the dignity of raising her child in good health. And every child deserves to meet a strong, healthy mother when they are born.
Together, we can keep building on this progress and change the story of maternal health in Nigeria, one safe birth at a time. đź’š
