30 days of Threading from Nov 🪡 2 seconds of the 15 minutes (+) of explorations each day, finding something new within the realms of upper body threads opened up so many the possibilities of this concept that it felt fresh again to practice it. No doubt a real challenge after the first few days but after the first few minutes of exploring each day, I always find myself back in the magical blackhole knot of wonderment. I am eternally grateful for the process and results and as always, the best place to be back is where it all started 🙏🏻 This was probably the most that I've wrecked my brain upside-down-360 for an item. Conceptualising, choreographing and the make-sensing of this piece since October was harder to figure than finding the exit out of Ikea at 12 years old. Definitely couldn't have done it without the close friends that gave notes, advices & even ideas. This item was a real kampung effort to say the least! Excerpts from the work-in-progress studio presentation of 𝘊𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘛𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘳 at @dancenucleus ’ SCOPE, focusing on choreography and music composition. Went back into the studio last October after a period of research which included a field trip to Penang’s renown Nine Emperor God Festival 九皇爺誕 with my producer @kae__yuan . Developing a movement vocabulary from childhood memories, imagination and new references. Also welcoming @shuxin.oh as the third dancer alongside @redbeanjack and I. @guzz35970267 arrived from Chengdu to soundscape the live WIP performance and will be back soon. Renegotiating my relationship with this evolving and very personal work.
