What happens when you put 60+ filmmakers in a room? 🎬👇 Back in April, we hosted our second REC event at @campfieldmcr - bringing together filmmakers, creatives, producers, videographers and video professionals from across Manchester and the wider North West ❤️ The night was all about collaboration, conversation and community. We were lucky enough to hear incredible stories and insights from the Hallows family, with careers spanning TV drama, cinematography, production and music videos - plus an audience Q&A that honestly could’ve gone on all night. @hallows.jo @billie_hallo @vixhallows @camdoogie Huge shoutout to @darrenjeffries1 for hosting the evening so brilliantly 🎤 And massive thanks to @alexiumz for an inspiring and honest “Show & Tell” session on his upcoming film project. One of the best parts of the night? Seeing so many production companies and creatives in one room together. Some might technically be “competition” - but we genuinely believe peer support, collaboration and community matter far more than gatekeeping ❤️ The North West creative scene is packed with ridiculously talented people, and REC:MCR is about creating space for everyone to connect, share work, learn from each other and grow together. An unforgettable time hosting @recmcr for the guys at @coolboxvideo and @weare.triangle 🎙️ Especially during the headline panel featuring none other than my old boss from the ‘Oaks @hallows.jo ! (Along with her talented fam @billie_hallo @vixhallows and @camdoogie ) A really great conversation about where the industry is heading - from legacy and linear TV to creator-led media, digital skills, new pathways into the industry and how storytelling is evolving. We are BEYOND PROUD to introduce our new host for REC:MCR; the incredibly charming and talented Darren Jeffries @darrenjeffries1 Darren is an award-winning actor and producer creating socially engaged work with real-world impact. For five years, his company Ludovico delivered projects for local organisations and national clients, including Everton FC, Amazon, and the NHS. His recent independent work includes writing and directing a series of films addressing violence against women and girls, and he is the recipient of four British Independent Media Awards (BIMA). He continues to develop socially conscious projects and is currently producing his next short film, slated for the festival circuit in 2027.
