BIFA longlisted feature ‘Departures’ - out at cinemas nationwide NOW! Shot on about every format you can imagine. 35mm // 16mm // Alexa LF // iPhone and FX3. These following frames were all shot with rehoused Canon FD lenses from TLS. During testing we loved the warmer tones, especially on the 35 / 45x and 55. In the flash back scenes we pushed them a little harder to gain some natural softness. DEPARTURES is a British LGBT+ drama following Benji, a Manchester-based man navigating a raw, toxic breakup from his partner, Jake (@davidtagofficial ). Through a non-linear narrative, the film explores their intense, chaotic relationship - featuring monthly Amsterdam trips - and Benji’s subsequent spiral into dangerous hook-ups, described as “Shirley Valentine meets Trainspotting”.
