Every organization and school in jujitsu should be doing more to protect the youth. It's like every other day I wake up there's a new scandal somewhere. I've worked with kids for a long time and to be able to teach your child how to defend themselves is a frighteningly beautiful opportunity.
And it comes so much responsibility because so much of what these kids might believe in themselves capable we have a hand in that.
It's our duty to protect and help cultivate that.
So it's really heartbreaking to see some of the people who are abusing their beautiful gift of an opportunity to help a young soul....And worse to see others evolve into people who are ,like, protecting the abusers for reasons I still don't quite understand.
I hope everybody who is guilty, I hope you get the worst of everything- forever. If you enable monsters, to me you are worse than the monster.
Whatever level you exist in Jiu-Jitsu please have a hand in helping to cure our beautiful sport of these dark souls.

I always remind them that winning or losing has nothing to do with the joy of watching them try. Winning and losing has nothing to do with helping them choose to be great.

About 10 years ago while teaching chess and Jiu-Jitsu as a unified class at Zaytuna College I created two variants of chess,to help people learn the philosophy of their own selves.
To be honest I was just doing it to help the students learn algebraic notation better (that just means understanding how to write down chess moves properly), but to also help people grapple more efficiently inside themselves about the choices they make.
A while ago I wrote about it in passing and an old friend Abel Talemontez, suggested I write a little more deeply about it. He liked the idea.
Because of him the story went up today on the #FIDE education section. I'm deeply blown away and honored. And I hope that #WolfpackChess and #StoicChess help your students grow technically and philosophically.
Thank you to all my family and friends who have put up with all my weird chess fascination.

Getting ready to return to The Bay after giving an incredible series of lectures @albanystateuniversity in Albany, GA.
I was invited by the forever incredible Dr. @tiffanydphd to talk about the intercultural impact of the Wu-Tang clan, Hip-Hop, chess, Jiu-Jitsu and philosophy.
The outcome was incredible. The students were deeply engaged and it was filmed. I hope to get a hold of the film soon and share clips with you on my Substack in the coming weeks.
I gave two lectures approximately 2 hours apart. When I tell you I was exhausted by the end of that night especially after all that good food- I was ready for bed.
The next day @real64blocks was invited to give a short talk and introduction of Chess basics to the amazing students at Turner Elementary in Albany, GA. The smiles and laughter of the children are still dancing in my mind and heart.
About 10 years ago I created two chess variants to help teach people the value of philosophy as they learn the game.
One is called Wolfpack Chess. The other is called Stoic Chess. You don't need to be highly skilled to play these versions of the game, you just need to know the basics.

Sometimes I swear I just feel so lucky in the journey of my life. A few months ago @tiffanydphd and I were talking about a unique kind of talk that I could give @albanystateuniversity . We both wanted it to be unique and engaging.
Literally out of the sky two concepts hit me I think while we were talking or just before we got on the phone.... And she was totally loving the idea.
Anytime I go out there or to any City It's never enough for me to work with the young adults I like to talk to the youth too. I have to do it because you never know at what stage you may catch a child's intellectual spark and help them turn that spark into sustainable flame 🔥.
It's going to be powerful, the honor is mine and I promise to break downs I give will be unprecedented.
And then, let's talk about Divine timing because this happens only days after @rza and @therealgza announce that the Wu-Tang clan will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
People throw around words like God's plan all the time. But it's a real thing it's not just a pop song.
I want to thank, Dr. Tiffany for her trust and support. As well as an avalanche of people that I can't fully tag rn, because I'm old and I don't really know how to tag everybody.
