This week the new MIT Museum @mitmuseum opens in Cambridge, Massachusetts!
The Liquid Archive is a generative video work by Studio TheGreenEyl (@thegreeneyl ) shown on the 18 by 18 foot digital display at the center of the new MIT Museum. Using machine learning, the piece examines thousands of digital artifacts from the museum collection to create an infinite, forever unfolding associative journey through the history of practice at MIT. Inspired by the cross-disciplinary nature of research at the institute, the animated collage constantly draws new, surprising connections across time, place and research discipline. The ephemeral compositions of image and text fragments might combine artifacts from engineering, science, art and architecture and span across decades of research. While the work is generated from a vast collection database, the result is a meditative, aesthetic experience, offering a break from the more didactic museum galleries nearby.

Finally up, the video documentation for the installation “Found In Translation” that we created with @google and @dominique_hl_chen at @2121designsight in Tokyo. The installation interactively explores Google Translate across 24 languages in typography and speech and shows the underlying machine learning model driving Google Translate. It is part of the exhibition “Understanding Misunderstanding” which runs till June 6, 2021.

Necto was designed collaboratively and globally, built locally, reusable, lightweight and biodegradable. The project explores the theme of Intelligens through an immersive, innovative, and both computationally derived yet intuitively driven membrane structure that speculates on the future of temporary structures—lightweight, flexible and efficient, and embedded with latent intelligence
Luminous threads seamlessly integrated within the textile follow selected stress pathways, forming a constellation of light and spatialized sound. Immersive animations dance across the membrane, transforming the structure temporarily into different environments, only to disappear entirely in the next moment again. The generative light and sound animations embrace lightness, exploring the expressive possibilities of a very minimal visual and sonic palette. Each atmosphere playfully speculates on the tensions between craft and algorithm, nature and technology, emergent process and design intent.
Necto - A 3D-Knitted Anticlastic Media Architecture by SO-IL, Mariana Popescu and TheGreenEyl at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, 10 May – 23 November 2025
Riley Watts @riileywaatts will perform at our installation Necto, Rm 3 of the Arsenale. 7th 3pm, 8th 2&3pm, 9th 11am&3pm, 10th 11am, 2&5pm. Necto is realized in collaboration with @maadpope & @readyletsgo , costume by Elizabeth Beer of @various_projects
Poster for “Perspectives on AI” exhibition, as part of the AGI Congress in Basel 2024 focuses on AI in graphic design. Generative AI can dream up fantastical images at an incredible rate, and these images populate our culture and feeds. This poster incorporates manual hand-lettering by me and a sampling of images people are generating today. If you can generate anything, what will you make? Are you ready for the avalanche of dream slop? Do you love dream slop as much as I do? @agi_open@agigraphic #graphic #design #poster #ai #agi
