Claire's Day is filled to the brim with authors and illustrators, community resources supporting literacy and C.A.R.E. Awards, honoring the region's most improved readers.
Luckily, Claire's Day has expanded from one day to 🎉 TWO FULL DAYS 🎉 of festivities, with the final one tomorrow on May 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Swing by the Maumee Branch of @toledolibrary to cheer on student readers, hear from authors and illustrators and explore the organizations that make Northwest Ohio great.

And that’s a wrap on Claire’s Day Toledo 2026 and what an unforgettable week it was! We hosted 21 incredible author illustrator visits throughout Toledo, celebrated 750 CARE Award recipients, and witnessed the magic that happens when children feel seen, encouraged, and celebrated for their growth as readers! 💜📚From packed award ceremonies, meaningful author illustrator meet and greets, and award winners arriving dressed to the nines, every moment reminded us why this work matters so deeply! Well also had the incredible honor of receiving a proclamation from Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz recognizing 25 years of Claire’s Day and its impact on children and families throughout our region. To every student, family, educator, volunteer, author, illustrator, sponsor and supporter … THANK YOU for helping make Claire’s Day Toledo 2026 such a meaningful celebration! Claire’s Day Maumee is off to an exciting start as author and illustrator Katie Mazeika visits Jerusalem Elementary to inspire young readers and artists! Her visit marks the beginning of a week filled with school appearances by talented authors and illustrators, all leading up to the big celebration on Saturday.

What an amazing day. I plan to write more about Claire’s Day later, but I am so grateful for this beautiful experience and all of the wonderful authors and illustrators I got to meet thanks to the Rubini family and Ohio’s @readforliteracy program. Thanks to everyone who made this experience one of the best of my author career so far! I am very grateful to have been selected to be a part of this very special day.

Glendale Feilbach welcomed Natasha Tarpley today for a Claire’s Day author/illustrator visit. It was clear the school put so much thought and care into making her feel welcome.
