In a dialogue with the archive of Diamang (Angola’s Diamond Mining Company) developed during a residence at INDEX @indexmediaarts by alumni Alexa Szekeres @alexaszk and Remi Kuforiji @remi3k , these explorations trace the genealogies and afterlives of the violent world-making technologies of the European colonial project and its uneven geographies of dispossession.
Together, Alexa and Remi imagine an assemblage of tactics to confront the practices of inscription of bodies and the earth that sustain the logics of extraction while foreclosing other ways of being.

‘Demonic Strata’ presents a constellation of spatial propositions responding to the frictions between regimes of extraction and spaces of indeterminacy, which emerged as part of the pedagogical experience initiated by @rca.ads2 . Conceived as a multimedia installation at the Museu Nogueira da Silva, it charts models of refusal and resistance to the contemporary entanglement of extractive regimes, spanning mining of natural resources, logistical cartographic systems, and technoscientific modes of sensing.
With alumni’s work by Anusha Alamgir, Ayanna Blair-Ford, Cyprian Boateng, Emily Chooi, Helena Francis, Claire Greenland, Remi Kuforiji, Lina Noueiri, Maya Patel & Alexa Szekeres.

The political bruschetta is a short performance where @fpbarch narrates and converses with the guests about the logistics of tomato production in the south of Italy and the hidden realities of migrant exploitation behind the cultivation of the plant while making tomato bruschetta.
