I had the controversial - because wtf isn’t controversial these days - $40 half chicken at @gigi_greenpoint and you know what? It’s fantastic. You want to eat a $7 chicken raised in a wire box that’s pumped full of antibiotics and had its feet pecked off by other chickens, go for it. This ain’t that, and bravo @gigi_greenpoint . AND I also had - because apparently I am put on this earth to eat chickens - the equally stellar chicken at @eatwitharthur down the block, which is totally different but just as good, plus the rest of the food there from @kg.finch is great. As is the vibe. As is the wine list. Check these two places out, seriously. And, I am so getting a blowtorch to crisp chicken skin going forward—swipe over to see what I mean. (I mean, sorry, chickens, but dominant species and all that.) 🐓🐓🐓🔥
Counting down to Nantucket’s most iconic weekend 🍷✨ @nantucketwineandfood | May 27–31, 2026.
As a WSET Level 3 sommelier and wine communicator, I’m thrilled to partner with the festival to highlight a few unforgettable moments that showcase the island at its most delicious—world-class pours, fascinating people, and stories in every sip.
On my radar: a globe-trotting journey in a glass with @rayisle , the legendary Dames Déjeuner lobster luncheon (as fabulous as it sounds 🦞), and the Captains Tasting—an insider’s dream for rare, remarkable wines. Plus, a global Pinot Noir exploration with @winedinewanda . 🍷
I can’t wait to raise a glass with you on the island. 🥂
[NELSON MELIER’s WINE BOOK CLUB 📚🍇 Vol. XV]
Ray Isle brings an extensive (720-page) account of differentiated wine producers around the world, particularly in France, Italy and the U.S., with a focus on high-quality sustainable (but not necessarily strictly organic) winemaking. The rich detail comes out of the pages like a virtual visit to each of the vineyards, with minute commentary on terroirs and production methods, quick bios of the owners and vignerons, and highlights of key wines available for sale. A fun, amazing read for curious wine travellers when not travelling. Also available as audiobook 🎧. @rayisle

Think “sustainable wine” just means organic grapes? Think again. 🍷
In this episode of The Sipping Point 🎙️, I sit down with Ray Isle, author of The World in a Wineglass, and we unpack what sustainability in wine really means—and why it matters way beyond the label.
From farming practices to the people behind the bottle, Ray breaks down the buzzword and makes it make sense (finally 🙌).
