I’ve been building a playlist of educational resources that are helping me stay grounded in solidarity for a Free Palestine and therefore against colonialism, against occupation, against antisemitism, against Islamophobia, against xenophobia of all shapes, against dehumanization, and against injustices everywhere. As Lara Kiswani @kiswaniya powerfully put it: "𝘼 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙙𝙢𝙖𝙥 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚." (Listen to them speak in the Haymarket Books episode, ‘Abolition and the Liberation of Palestine’, included in the playlist). I hope these resources can help you while you continue being an active witness, sharpen your critical analysis, expand your heart space, hold one another close, and keep pressing for a CEASEFIRE NOW. The playlist can be found in my bio as well as on my artist page on Spotify (RAN PARK). Recommendations are welcome. On Sunday April 5th, 40+ community members of many corners and circles of life gathered to witness new~secret~sacred~previously unheard works by four artists — artists who are new and old friends, who came into one another’s orbits thanks to previous events held by artists and community builders from different reaches and intersecting expanses of life. Together, in our sincere attempt to model modes of exchange (energetic, creative, offerings and gifts) that support life rather than perpetuate systems of extraction, we raised $1,088 for five families in Gaza. We did this knowing full-and-tender-heartedly that our survival as artists and as a community cannot be achieved without the survival of our global family. We are all overlapping concentric circles who cannot help but affect each other, and in this knowledge, cannot sit still and deny our deep responsibility towards one another. We move towards One Another. As in, one together in full defiance of the violent patriarchal impulse to Other, dehumanize, and dominate. We move as one complex adaptable body, ever consciously and lovingly towards life. In this tender, curious space that has been given the name A Tempo, we reshape our relationship to time and resources. We question (with a soft, knowing smile) what constitutes a meaningful connection. We move steadily, light on our feet with a readiness to plunge way deep, our collective tears a great meniscus at the precious rim where soul meets flesh. My cup is overflowing. I did not know that I could feel broken in the most beautiful way, after years of heartbreak upon heartbreak upon heartbreak. This was a beautiful breaking that helped me see all the glowing intricacies of existence - of you, community - and generated a new cellular memory of potential and possibility in creative action. We are building. Thank you for trusting this space. Thank you for your brilliant, soul-expanding creative offerings ~ @emily_j_mundy @almostmemory @ilylily__ Thank you to every dear friend who jumped in with your labor, love, intuition, support, creative spirit, and sheer joy. Until next time. 🤍

APRIL 5th, 6:00-8:30PM — A playful riff on the Closet Sale for Palestine, the first installment of A Tempo invites Emily Mundy, Lily Minke Tahar, Mico Astrid, & Ran Park to share unreleased works from their creative vault. Through offerings in the form of prose, poetry, and music, the artists conjure somatic, spiritual, and material realities into collective rumination around the conscious choice to reveal — in generosity, collective reckoning, vulnerability, agency, and power. All proceeds from ticket donations will support five families surviving under occupation and siege in Gaza. @mohammedabuafifa @lana_hu9 @__taliaae @mom_life_raghad_family80 @farhan_muhammad_22 Private location. SAVE THE DATE — APRIL 5th, 6-8:30pm. Featuring @almostmemory @emily_j_mundy @ilylily__ & yours truly. I am so pleased to share a project that’s been a long time coming — A Tempo (“ah tempo”) is a home-spun event series that provides space for creative modalities supporting deep/active listening, play, collective reflection, and imaginative economies. Here, a performance is never just a performance, but instead an entry point to conversations and deepened connections, perhaps new collaborations. Here we permit ourselves to materialize our most audacious “what if’s” and model new ways of co-creating, relating, gifting, sharing, surviving. It is a space where you always know where to put your coat, where you’re greeted with warm light and snacks/beverages that respect your needs. Here, inter-generationality is cherished, values and intentions are made crystal clear, and mutual trust is prioritized — because care and rigor are what make play feel possible and safe. I look forward to having you. ________ Ticket access by invitation ~ inquire via my linktree.

Join us for an evening of short films by Palestinian and Lebanese filmmakers that tell the stories of ordinary people living everyday life, as the shadow of war and conflict lingers in the background. These films explore memory, family, humor, love, and longing through moments that reveal the resilience and the tenderness of daily life. We will also have a piano performance by Ran Park. The performance aims to embrace the fullness of life – its complexities, wonders, challenges, and joys. Ticket Link in Bio. Films for this event were selected by our friend Mohamad @coiled_coil with input from Dina Amin Poster by @sainadrawing

THURSDAY 8/7 • 12:00 PST on IG Live. I’m playing songs from my vault to raise urgent funds for my friends in Gaza: Mohammed & Asma’a, Raghad, Lana, Talia, Muhammad, and Ahmed, as well as M (who chooses to keep his name private due to safety) who fled from Jenin to Seattle under dire circumstances and continues to struggle to meet survival needs. Donations can be sent directly using the links in my bio or via Venmo @sharonranpark . I will split proceeds evenly between all seven families. Amidst unspeakable heartbreak and fury, my sincere hope is that my music can offer a little bit of a reprieve, maybe nourishment for the soul and a chance to get regulated, even if temporarily. Coming to my piano almost every day has been a great privilege and a power source at the same time that it’s offered the space to transmute my rage into a process that continues finding new connections in community. Thank you for your support. With you in rage, grief, hope, love, and action. Free Palestine forever. 🤍🇵🇸

In the so-called ‘free world’ we exist in perpetual paradox: our sense of spiritual/emotional wellness and creative freedom are constantly put into competition with our material survival. For anyone who is artistically inclined, this often means we must actively defend our right to creative expression. We create against all odds, despite - and often in response to - the harmful and extractive standards imposed by capitalism. To insist on freedom of creative exploration is to insist on our humanity. Taking our own humanity seriously means we are automatically accountable to insisting on the humanity of those most hurt by the oppressive forces we’re critical of. How do we make this connection more vividly present in our everyday and creative lives? We invite you to discuss the powers and paradoxes of making art under late capitalism, and to forge ideas and connections on how we can bring our work and internal processes closer into alignment with liberatory principles and practices. Dreamtank 001 Hosted by @slowfoam & @ran_____park Sat Nov 2nd, 6:00 - 8:30pm Private location Space is limited ~ please sign up by filling out the form linked in the bio.
