🐾IF PIT BULLS HAD A GOD IT’D BE A PITBULL🐾 released on 11/8/2024 with The Head & The Hand Press (@theheadandthehand ) as part of their Riverwards Chapbook Series. I had the great pleasure of collaborating with H&H (Linda, Claire, Shosh) and being paired with an incredible editor, Summer Farrah, as well as the talented and meticulous artist Scum Lizard aka Rushawn Videl-Gevonte Stanley and together we ushered into this world this collection of poems. These poems were largely written in 2017 at the Cave Canem main office workshops led by DéLana R. A. Dameron and Joel Dias-Porter. From 11/8 - 11/29, I was in 7 different cities (Philly, San Francisco, Phoenix, Chicago, Miami, Baltimore, NYC) not only touring with the chapbook but surrounding myself and building with beloved new and long-time friends. Thank you to @paintedbrideartcenter , @creativesoulhouse , and @madstreetbooks for holding space and celebration for my book release parties in Philly, New York, and Chicago! I met my mentor Juan Felipe Herrera for the first time in person and when he recognized who I was he said “Oh wow, Gabriel! You look like a King!” and never in my life have I felt more royal and worthy of the crown I was born with. Link in bio if you’d like to order a copy of the book! Thank y’all for loving me and blessing me! My gratitude grows every day! 💐📖 🙏🏼

🎤 “I’m always trying to be there for others that way I’m less alone in my everyday grief. I tell them what took me a decade to understand about loss. We often forget to mourn the person we wore before each loss. How there’s a part of us that also dies. How’s we forget to ceremony and wale and burry ourselves. How America has no culture for grief. Having to make the impossible decision between our sanity and livelihood. I haven’t spoken to my pops ashes in Florida since the year he promised to call back.” “On Grief” by Gabriel Ramirez The Sanctuary - Season 1: Episode 4 📍: @legacyclubbleeker 🎥: @nicos.creative 🏠: New York City 📺: Whole performance in full episode on YouTube @thesanctuarypoetry The full episode is out now! 🎤 Show me who you are. Show me your flaws. Show show me what makes you happy. Show me who you would die for, what you got at stake. Stop preaching to choirs that stay off key. Stop snapping and clapping to tasteless lines just ‘cause they rhyme. If you only an activist on this stage, in front of those cameras, your who revolution performative. I don’t care about your followers. How many can you say know you? How many can they say actually support you?.” “What You ‘Bout” by Gabriel Ramirez The Sanctuary - Season 1: Episode 4 📍: @legacyclubbleeker 🎥: @nicos.creative 🏠: New York City 📺: Whole performance in full episode on YouTube @thesanctuarypoetry The full episode is out now! JON IS HOME! Thank you to everyone for your support! It’s been a difficult 5 months, to say the least, but after talking with Rodrigo, the eldest of us, Jon agreed to come home. This is a delicate situation, and we’re doing our best to navigate it together as a family. We’re taking it one step at a time, planning for the future, and surrounding Jon with all our love and support. If you have his phone number, leave a voicemail of love and affirmations. If you don’t have his number, leave a comment here, and I’ll make sure he sees it. Thank you for all your prayers, intentions, and for sharing the poster.

Wow! 32! I’m shook and will be shook every year! Before my set at @cantokojo I wrote something to thank everyone there and ended it with “To everyone who read, everyone here, and everyone here in spirit beyond the limits of realms. I am so grateful you are here. I will never doubt whether I am loved ever again!” I didn’t think I could have a good birthday with everything I’ve been carrying, and I’m blessed enough to have the best birthday of my life. I am so grateful to my dear ones, my loved ones, my homies, friends, and family. Life has been really scary, and I’ve been doing everything I can to stay regulated and nourished. Thank you! @yazudpoems + @isjonespoetry for holding me in your hearts and for hosting my Birthday Showcase with so much kin and warmth and love and protection. Love y’all! Thank you, Saskia! My heart, my angel, my partner in this life! Thank you for everything you did and do to make my birthday and every day of my life special. Also, I had a great AWP and wish I had taken more selfies! Grateful for all the love and support through these times. My hope has returned. My heart is beaming!

This is everything I have left for 2025 with two newer poems at the end. I pray you find what you need for yourself to sustain and grow and flourish. All of you. I have no enemies, not even myself. Not anymore. I’m learning and growing and changing and living and loving and fighting so hard for all that I believe in and need this time to myself to get to the next level in my life. I will see y’all in Chicago around my Birthday March 31st. Reach out over phone or email. Love y’all! Peace! Also, I have the best girlfriend in the world and we really in love in love and I’m gonna continue to grow with her frfr. That’s my teammate, my baby, my boo, my errrthang!
