Drapes by me for @serendipityartsfestival 2025 Exhibition : Infinite Drape curated by Rashmi Varma (@rashmivarma ) Contributors : @borderandfall @raw_mango @rtakapurchishti Exhibition design & graphics : @vertex_inc Infinite Drape explores the everyday practice and formal craft of sari draping in India. Forms of embodied knowledge passed down through generations, draping reflects identity, culture, labour, gender, history, form, beauty and function. Sculptural and practical, forms of wearing the sari are ever changing and evolving with no two drapes alike. The possibilities a of wearing the sari (and other draped garments such as the dhoti, dupatta, shawl, hijab, pagri, lunghi) are endless. The exhibition features The Sari Series: An Anthology of Drape by Border&Fall @thesariseries in dialogue with the saris by Raw Mango. Both The Sari Series and Raw Mango have contributed to a perceptible shift in how the sari is seen and worn, articulating draping as both personal and collective language. #pageantstyling 3/3 of my favourite looks we styled for the 72nd Miss World pageant wardrobe for India. For the National Costume Round at the Opening Ceremony of the 72nd Miss World Festival, @nandiniguptaa13 graced the stage in a magnificent creation by @gaurangofficial . She radiated timeless Indian beauty in a breathtaking jugalbandi of Jamdani weaves from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. The ensemble features a base of hand-spun charkha khadi yarn, woven into shimmering gold zari Jamdani leharia, and finished with an exquisite Bangdi Mor border and palla, a traditional motif where four peacocks dance within a single bangle, celebrating the intricate elegance of India’s weaving legacy. Each piece of jewelery echoed the grandeur of India’s royal past. From the Chand Suraj, symbolizing the radiant blessings of the Sun and Moon, to a two-tiered peacock necklace adorned with Burmese rubies, Basra pearls, and uncut diamonds, crowned by a majestic heirloom centrepiece, every ornament tells a story. Her look is completed with kadas, ornate finger rings, a classic Vanki, and a detailed waist belt, each crafted to honor the timeless artistry passed down through generations.
