TRANSCRIPT OF OUR SPEECH::
Thank you all so so much! @msfoundation@msteresayounger@angeliquerocheofficial@sarahkamos
We are the founders of a film, tv and immersive experiences media company. We are so honored to be here and be recognized in this way.
We founded Culture House to make media and entertainment that does two things:
First and foremost that contributes to a shared vision of a future that is more just, more engaged, more interconnected.
And second, to provide opportunity to other creatives that align with our values - to date via our projects we’ve paid other women and people of color over 12 million dollars.
Rae, Nicole and I believe that storytelling is liberation work. The stories we tell are the scaffolding of the future we will share. The stories we see and hear do more than shape us, they are the very foundation of how we view the world and our place in it.
Our first slate of shows share a thematic arc: each in its way, tells a story about the power of culture to determine our lived experience.
Growing up: shares the stories of 10 young people each taught by some facet of our culture to feel shame - the show confronts those stigmas and reframes their stories to champion their bravery and brilliance.
The hair tales: gathers black women to discuss our hair as a portal to access the deepest and most sacred parts of our lives.
Ladies first: a story of women in hip hop corrects the historical record by recentering the women who were erased from the creation story of the world’s most dominant cultural force.
And most recently, released just this week,
Black Twitter: a people’s history is a humor fueled lesson in the ways black people gather, organize and innovate to demand a better world for all - in digital spaces and in real life.
These shows are entertainment, yes, because people know where to go if they want a sermon and it’s not Hulu, but they are also purposeful. They contribute to a cultural shift, led by so many of the activists in this room, to move us toward the society we deserve…..
We are so proud of the work we do with the @unitednations on behalf of the #globalgoals Our film THE AGREEMENT directed by @raeshem will be at festivals this coming year! More on that soon!
For too long, motherhood in America has been a story told about us. “Trad wives” vs. “girlbosses.” Stay-at-home vs. working moms. Winners vs. failures.
But the truth is bigger than any culture war: the system was never built for mothers in the first place.
This is no country for mothers.
Our documentary is our investigation into how we got here — and what it will take to build a country that finally works for us. The trailer is here. And this movement is just getting started.

Something big is coming.
For too long, motherhood in America has been a story told about us. “Trad wives” vs. “girlbosses,” stay-at-home vs. working moms, winners vs. failures.
But the truth is bigger than any culture war: the system was never built for mothers in the first place. The system was built to work against us.
This story—our story—has never before been told. This documentary is our investigation into how we got here, and what it will take to build a country that finally works for us.
We’re done fighting each other. It’s time to fight for each other.
If this speaks to you, you’re already in the movement. And it’s past time for you to be heard. Comment “film” to learn how you can become an associate producer on this movie, straight to your DMs.
