Last month I had the pleasure of contributing with a video work installation as part of the great experience that was @demo.eindhoven and their exhibition on Nostalgia! My work acted as an altar to my grandma's apartment - a special place that will now forever live only in my memories. For this assemblage I also got to present a painting I have done 5 years ago and have completely forgotten about it until recently. So it was also a bit of a nostalgia directed to myself. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a reality, glad I could exhibit in a city so close to my heart as Eindhoven 🙏

This video installation centers on the final footage the artist recorded inside their grandmother’s apartment, originally filmed for a graduation project. Through these images, the artist reflects on the space and, implicitly, on a relationship that was both significant and complex. The installation extends beyond the video to include an altar dedicated to the apartment and the memories it holds. While many of the objects presented are not exact replicas of those that once occupied the space, the act of reconstructing it underscores the power of nostalgia. In this gesture, memory becomes less about accuracy and more about emotional resonance—revealing how places are preserved, transformed, and reimagined over time. ----------------- Nostalgia can feel like a refuge, a return to what is familiar, safe, and emotionally resonant. But it can also shape how we imagine the future, influence design choices, and affect how we relate to change. During our first expo of the year: Enter Nostalgia: the comfort of knowing invites you to explore this tension between past and present: when does familiarity comfort us, and when does it hold us back? Where: NulZes - Gasfabriek 3A, 5613CP, Eindhoven When: 20th, 21st and 22nd of March Friday: opening event with performances and dj from 21:00 Saturday and Sunday: 12:00-17:00 Hope to see you there! @radutheguy @nul.zes @cultuur_eindhoven

Untitled, Radu-Mihai Tanasa, 2023, Netherlands (19/19) of Passing the Love أضيئوا بالحب قلوبك curated by Fehras Publishing Practices "mersul cu capra” is a local traditional Romanian custom usually performed around New Year’s Eve, a pagan ritual rooted in ancestral role-play meant to celebrate the Winter Solstice: the end of the longest night of the year marking the opportunity for a new beginning. A band of costumed men sing and perform for the central character and totemic animal, Capra (the Goat). In the most common chant associated with the tradition, the Goat is an immigrant herself, brought from Africa, whose colourful hide and rich horns make her the wonder and pride of the group (Pop, 1999). I see the tradition, as it is practiced today, as a form of escapism from the chains of macho masculinity that is ever-so present in daily life." ‘Passing the Love’ employs intimate portraits of individuals, friends, families, and collectives as a tool for circulating affection and serves as a visual diary of emotional landscapes. It draws upon love — a vital force that sustains us through darkness. “Love” is imbued with profound meaning, not as pictured in Hollywood, but as a reflection of the complexities of shared human experiences and connections. The films encapsulate moments of care, longing, vulnerability, forgetting and becoming. The work is an invitation to consider the power of love as a methodology and the importance of community, encouraging us to find solace and strength in one another. We are thankful and grateful to all filmmakers featured in the series 💓 ‘Passing the Love’ premiered this summer @flutgrabenberlin - thanks to everyone who came out and Passed the Love, making it a beautiful event - and screened at @reykjavikfilmfestival , @kisff_ua in Kyiv and @250cine_club in Kigali and online. Thank you for reminding us how important it is to keep coming together in these times. We have only each other. ‘Passing the Love’ remains available online, and we’re excited to share the 19 selected films with you here. 'Untitled' was also published in 'Carnival of the Ancestors' curated by @ghettobiennale in 2023. @radutheguy @fehras_publishing_practices

Introducing the artist! I-Claim, Netherlands, 05/-11/01/26 Radu-Mihai Tanasă (b.1999 in Iași, Romania) is a visual artist and graduate of the Visual Arts and Post-Contemporary Practice MA programme at MIVC den Bosch, the Netherlands. Through usage of various masks and costumed characters, his practice deals with themes of migrant identity, belonging, masculinity and memory. All of his works draw upon personal experiences and events. His main mediums are video, performance and illustration. For the I-Claim Netherlands @centrala_space commissioned artist Radu Tanasă (@radutheguy ) to produce new art work in response to research topic. Artist has created a video work titled ‘Home. Delivered.’ which follows the delivery shift of an unnamed, masked character who carries a large boulder on their back around Utrecht. The video portrays the repetitive nature of the work and the adverse effect it has on the body and mind. The work shift revolves around picking up and delivering orders while answering weird phone calls. Throughout the journey the internal monologue of the main character can be heard, commenting on the feelings and thoughts one feels during such a job. I-Claim (@iclaim.eu ) project investigates the living and working conditions of irregularised migrant households in Europe from an intersectional perspective. In the Netherlands, the research was based on food delivery workers with irregular status and the precarity of platform based labour, such as Uber Eats. This research is by Ilse van Liempt & Minke Hajer from the University of Utrecht, titled ‘Irregular migrants and precarity in the Dutch Food Delivery Sector’. For more information on this exhibition and the I-Claim project as a whole, take a look at the link in our bio titled ‘I-Claim’. The exhibition will launch on the 5th of January 2026 at the Bibliotheek Utrecht @bibliotheekutrech (Neude 11, 3512AE Utrecht) from 19:30. #HomeDelivered #CentralaSpace #DIY #iclaim#Utrecht

Home. Delivered. by Romanian artist Radu-Mihai Tanasă, commissioned by Centrala. “Home. Delivered.” is a video work that follows the delivery shift of one unnamed, masked character who is carrying a big boulder from one place to another around Utrecht and its vicinity. The work shift revolves around picking up and delivering orders while answering weird phone calls. Throughout the journey the internal monologue of the main character can be heard, commenting on the feelings and thoughts one feels during such a job. “Home. Delivered.” is based on research findings by I-CLAIM (@iclaim.eu ) researchers Ilse van Liempt & Minke Hajer from the University of Utrecht, titled ‘Irregular migrants and precarity in the Dutch Food Delivery Sector’. This research with food delivery workers with an irregular status in the Netherlands underscores the paradox of platform-based labour. The exhibition will launch on the 5th of January 2026 at the Bibliotheek Utrecht @bibliotheekutrech (Neude 11, 3512AE Utrecht) from 19:30. @radutheguy For more details take a look at the link in our bio! #HomeDelivered #CentralaSpace #DIY #iclaim #Utrecht

WHAT IF YOU EMBRACED YOUR INNER STEREOTYPE? - 30 min. by Radu-Mihai Tanasă @radutheguy Radu-Mihai’s practice is an autoethnographic exploration into the Balkan masculine experience acting as a vector of negotiating both cultural dysphoria and euphoria, and along, elastic forms of identity and a politics of non-polarization within the boundaries of the European continent. Amongst others, he researches the archetype of the Incel to first explore and then better understand how masculinity is being shifted by patriarchy and other forms of ideology, while also using escapism as a political tool for imagining patterns of perceiving and organizing beyond binary identities. The (pre-) Ottoman Balkan history, culture and traditions are used as evidence for speculative and sustainable modes of post-ideological co-existing.
