I hesitate to use words like “wake up” since the internet has done such poor job with what it means to be “woke” these days, but it is a chance for us all to look in the mirror and see what parts of these issues we contribute to and which ones we blindly consume to our own detriment. This trailer isn’t just a nod to nostalgia but also a moment to remember that our YOUTH is at stake here and hence our future! Just like @nas was reflecting in the park scene in Belly. We must zoom out daily and lock in to who and what is present in our communities and environments and understand that addiction comes in many forms and no matter how “harmless” it seems. It can and will have damaging effects. I hope you all enjoy the album, and i hope it resonates and spreads awareness and consciousness and love. I love you. By @bcmusic1st ‼️‼️‼️ So let me start off by saying i didn’t write a real treatment for this video, or atleast not this treatment lol. It was my thought to shoot my Rise Of Richmond performance at @rvarap.elite episode 50, but from there @bcmusic1st really decided to take the rest of this into his own hands and surprise me with what we have here, and it’s such a special gift. It makes me emotional to watch 🥲 sooo many of the contributors to our beautiful scene are captured here. So much of the energy and culture that we share throughout the year at these events is captured. The LOVE is captured. When i established this term and hashtag #RiseOfRichmondRap just like #RichmondsOwn the goal was to bring a sense of pride and collectiveness to our scene. Something we could ALL champion in our own respective ways. Something i hadn’t seen on this level before. HipHop is a competitive culture by nature but the love of it is what bonds us, and i feel we’ve been doing an amazing job balancing both ends of the spectrum. We all support each other and show up for each other. I believe in the talent of this city and state so deeply, and myself and my peers work so hard to bring light and help develop it in any way possible. I’m truly passionate about it and these people, and as we head into another magical Weekend with @grittycityrecs for the kids and @flagonthemoon8 this visual couldn’t come at a better time. I LOVE YOU RICHMOND. Let’s keep this thing going!!

I’m posting this interview with @therichmondseen and @big_mel_od to my main page because what she expressed as her experience on the platform is what i strive for everyone to feel, especially the women who join our space.
