It’s been said that pets are the glue that hold families together. Arthur Conan Doyle believed animals mirror the emotional state of their households, noting that a dog’s demeanor often reflects its people. Thoreau observed that, at times, the bond with a pet can feel even stronger than the bond with another human. And Churchill, with his usual wit, reminded us that “Dogs look up to us, cats look down on us, and pigs treat us as equals.” Bill Murray, an unabashed dog lover, put it plainly: “I’m suspicious of people who don’t like dogs, but I trust a dog when it doesn’t like a person.” The wonder of looking into another creature’s eyes and feeling real love is powerful. Perhaps that’s why the bond we create with our pets becomes so sacred. A rescued pet is particularly special — it signifies one more life saved, one more heart welcomed home. Peggy Adams understood this when she founded her Animal Rescue League in 1925. A century later, that mission continues in the hands of Palm Beach families who adore their animals and treat them as the truest members of their households. 🌴 The Royal Poinciana Plaza The Royal Poinciana Plaza’s latest gem: the waterfront restaurant Tutto Mare. The iconic Palm Beach landmark — designed by renowned architect John Volk and commissioned by John S. Phipps in 1957 — has reinvigorated its waterfront. And what a beautiful view. 🍽️ Tutto Mare A new lakeside restaurant, Tutto Mare, owned and created by Gabby Karan de Felice (yes, daughter of Donna Karan) and her husband, Gianpaolo de Felice, now sits along Lake Worth. ⭐️ The Celebrity Room Once a legendary 1950s nightclub in the original Royal Poinciana Playhouse, the room features a restored trompe l’oeil ceiling mural by artist Robert Bushnell, containing caricatures of more than 100 celebrities who once gallivanted at the club, including Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Fred Astaire, and local Palm Beach icon Lilly Pulitzer. 🌹 Sofia Reynal Cover girl Sofia Reynal hails from Palm Beach. The Argentine American beauty plays polo and was discovered by fashion photographer Bruce Weber. She is close with her grandmother, Alex Hufty, whom she visits frequently despite a modeling career that often takes her overseas. While she currently resides in New York City, Sofia cherishes her Doberman Pinscher, Mila — the dog who stole her heart in Australia and whom she loves dearly. 🚘 A Day at The Royal Our expert team — striking Sofia, talented photographer Nick Mele, hair and makeup expert Deborah Koepper, and jewelry aficionado Natalie Betteridge (of Greenleaf & Crosby and Jewels du Jour) — explored the ins and outs of The Royal, where we also took a spin in a 2025 Bentley Continental GTC provided by our friends at Braman Automotive.
