Exited to post the first interview in our series of new interviews. I had the pleasure to interview filmmaker @vnoujaim based in Paris. We spoke about current and upcoming projects all of which is available to read via the link in our bio. Valentin Noujaïm (b. 1991, French-Lebanese) graduated from the Screenwriting Department of La Fémis in Paris and was a guest student at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Noujaïm's work challenges dominant narratives in society, shedding light on the lives of individuals and communities historically marginalised by systemic discrimination. The fantasised worlds he creates through his films also underline his commitment to explore different formats: 16mm film, archives, digital footage, and special effects. Noujaïm will present his first institutional solo show in 2025.  His films have been selected in numerous festivals, including CPH:DOX, Visions du Réel, IFFR, DocLisboa, BAFICI, DokuFest, BlackStar Film Festival et Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur. His work has also been presented in several group exhibitions: Nîmes Triennale (2024), Museo Madre (2024), Magasins Généraux (2023), CNAC Magasin (2022), Salon de Montrouge (2022), Air de Paris Gallery (2022), Exo Exo Gallery (2022), Saatchi Gallery (2021), among others. His works are part of the collections of the CNAP, KADIST, FRAC Bretagne and Lafayette Anticipations.  @vnoujaim 💥

Today I gave a tour of my show 'When language fails, bodies talk' at @spiaggialibera.paris to the residents of @citedesartsparis I am also on the programme. A lot for the visual references in the show come from Queer artist working around the time world war 2, as well as from LGBTQIA+ archives from The Centre in NYC, the show uses queer fragmentation and subversion in art history to visually express ideas associated with the Palestinian identity in Europe today. On untill the 16th November

Over the last months iv gone to nearly all the protest for Palestine in central London, during this time I formed a WhatsApp group called ‘Protest Buddies’ to encourage people to go that didn’t want to go alone or who have never gone to a protest before. The group is small and mostly made up of LGBTQIA+ people. Sometimes there would be 8 of us sometimes 3. We would have a meeting point and then hang out afterwards. Here are a few photos from the protests across London. Free Palestine, Free the world 🇵🇸💥❤️🌎

Few photos from our Reimagining Beauty Through Life Drawing workshop @wellcomecollection last month for 14 - 19 year olds Inspired by our ‘The Cult of Beauty’ exhibition, this workshop will interrogate ideas about subversive beauty through life drawing. You will consider different aspects of beauty, including racialised beauty, gender identity and the cost of beauty. First you’ll visit the exhibition to get inspiration, and then return to the studio, where artists Nan Carreira and Gaby Sahhar will facilitate different activities. Next will be a collaborative mask-making session where you’ll think in subversive ways about the self and beauty. What does the mask reveal and what does it conceal? Artwork by @narcissister_organ_player Workshop run with @nan.carreira @gabysahhar
