‘Life in Squares’ by Violet Bond @violetbond and Cecily Willis @cecilywillis_potter opened April 10. The work is collectable, interactive and inviting to touch. The colours used and obtained combine the natural hues of our northern environment with those we are drawn to in our decorative life spaces. This incredible exhibition is open until May 1st. What if the archive is not a place, but a practice? The Alternate and Living Archival Practices Fellowship explores archives as spaces of negotiation—shaped by memory, community, and lived experience. Over 12 months, selected fellows will move through a shared process of learning, research, and making—engaging archives not as static records, but as active, shifting, and collective forms. Raw Earth Paintings 2 new original works made with raw earth pigments on linen. Pigments collected from old campfires, reclaimed dredging sites and wild clay, made with hands and finder nails. We have plenty of milestones to share with you during the DSAF this year, so we wanted to give you a program sneak peek: we are teaming up with @chapmanbaileydarwin (formerly Don Whyte Framing) and @qubit_gallery again to co-host the 20TH EDITION of Off Cuts - and it’s going to be huge! 🎨 IF YOU WANT TO BE INVOLVED: Canvases are available for pick up from 🎨 IF YOU WANT TO BE INVOLVED: Canvases are available for pick up from Chapman & Bailey (5/1 Travers St, Coconut Grove) during opening hours. This exhibition is open to everyone, but entries are limited to one per person - so get in quick and get involved! The Muse multi studios (Sudan Art Archive), in partnership with Qubit Incubator, invites artists from Sudan and Australia to apply for a 12-month Fellowship on Alternate and Living Archival Practices. Through a series of Knowledge Lab sessions, collaborative research, and artistic experimentation, fellows will engage archives not as static repositories, but as living systems shaped by communities, memory, and practice. ⁨ في نوفمبر الماضي، أطلق قاليري وحاضنة كيوبت مع زا ميوز ملتي استيديوز (ضمن مشروع أرشيف السودان للفن التشكيلي) تعاونًا وشراكة طويلة الأمد في مجال الأرشيف والإنتاج الفني، بعد أشهر من التطوير عبر الإنترنت. قضت المديرتان شاي جاياواردينا وريم الجعيلي ثلاثة أسابيع في القاهرة في مختبر المعرفة للتعرف على المدينة وتاريخها والمجتمعات السودانية والممارسات الفنية، بالإضافة إلى تبادل الموارد بين المؤسستين. يسعى المشروع إلى تعزيز التبادل والإبداع المشترك بين الفنانين السودانيين والأستراليين في مجالات الأرشفة البديلة، والأرشفة المجتمعية، والأدوات الرقمية، والسرد، والنظرية. سنشارك المزيد من التفاصيل قريبًا. — This November, Qubit Gallery & Incubator with The Muse multi studios (through the Sudan Art Archive project) kicked off a long-term collaboration and partnership on Archives and Artistic Production after months of development online. Directors Shay Jayawardena and Reem Aljeally spent three weeks in Cairo in a Knowledge Lab getting to know the city, history, Sudanese communities, and art practices as well as resources sharing between the two entities. The project seeks to foster exchange and co-creation between Sudanese and Australian artists over alternative archiving, community archiving, digital tools, narrative and theory.
