𝙉𝙀𝙓𝙏 𝙁𝙍𝙄𝘿𝘼𝙔 15 𝙈𝘼𝙔 | 23:00 We launch the first edition of 𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗗𝗢𝗪𝗡, a new 90mil event series aimed at boosting accessibility in nightlife and bringing back affordability to the rave. Heavyweight line-ups for 𝙁𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝙀𝙐𝙍𝙊 𝙀𝙉𝙏𝙍𝙔 all night long. For our first edition, we welcome Montreal’s 𝗦𝗜𝗠 the ‘slow-tech’ innovator, a genre and philosophy which mutates influences from dub, dancehall, techno and jungle into a new rhythmic blend. The talented sound designer and bass DJ, 𝗠𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗘 𝗩Ô𝗦, joins from LA on their Europe tour. Aside from their tight selections and productions, Vôs is also committed to skill-sharing with other FLINTA and LGBTQ+ artists via Ableton workshops and audio production classes for non-profit organisations. 𝗢𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗬𝗔 𝗕, the artist formerly known as AUCO, joins lowdown. The Berlin- and London-based DJ fuses UK bass with global club sounds. Their AAJ Radio show, “Bass Breaks and Bacchanal,” dives into UK bass, Dancehall, and Caribbean-infused club energy. Local artist and Cancunese DJ, 𝗥𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗭, opens the night next Friday. He has made a number of releases on Appendix.files, merging dub techno influences with ‘ADHD-ambient’ and wonky rhythms. This event is powered by @angel.audio.soundsystem from @femmebassmafia - a femme-built 4-way deep-bass soundsystem. One of the persistent frustrations of running an independent record label is the pressure to operate on the same timeline and release cycle as major labels with massive budgets and marketing machines behind them. So much of the music industry is built around immediacy—landing reviews quickly, generating buzz, chasing algorithms, and keeping momentum alive while the iron is hot. But for smaller labels without enormous promotional reach, that system can feel inherently uneven. That’s the inspiration behind Brand New 2 You, a new series revisiting releases from our catalog that deserve another listen, or perhaps a first discovery entirely. Because great music doesn’t expire, and in the underground, all music is brand new. Our first feature is one especially near and dear to us: Reinartz – Interactions EP, originally released in June of 2019. Reinartz crafts futuristic yet deeply warm soundscapes filled with celestial ambience, intricate percussion, and detailed, playful sound design. Even years later, the EP still feels transportive, colorful, and forward-thinking. Pleased to share a mix I recorded for Peak Oil aired on @dublab last week (or so) and ~spoiler alert~, it’s a techno mix. I’ve been itching to record a mix that pulls in many of my major influences, from the cloudy fuzz of an ambient four-to-the-floor, to the ADHD-appeasing fucked up twitchy kind, to more house-leaning technoid looseness and the sexy cold minimality of the dubby Detroit-Berlin continuum. The blends are long and always gonna be rough af, but I’m in love with all these tracks and I hope I can pass on this feeling and stimulate a dance to whoever listens. Dialed is back after a short Winter hiatus at a new location: the bassbin dungeons of Bar Neun. In high-dialed style we’ve lured our evening guests to answer the call for a little Friday 13th rendevouz: We’ve invited Kinga, arguably everyone’s favourite hot dyke and a fervent digger for the cuntiest of electronics; and the newly Lisbon-transplanted lead in innovation for optimised dub steppers and dembow strategy, DJ Career. Dialed hosts Triana and Reinartz will open the night with their signature undulating wubs. Doors at 21, see you in the basement. Suggested donation of 8-12€ and of course no one will be turned away for lack of funds. I know it’s long overdue but I’ve been wanting to let my feelings sink in properly before expressing much here, yet Irradiated came out a month ago and I’m still overwhelmed by the response to it. The making of this record last February was a frantic journey of self-discovery and observation, where things that I’m never going to be able to put into words I was capable of composing with sound. I feel I know me and the world a lot less, in the good way. I am very happy the possibility exists that I can make music with the potential to travel so far and mean something to someone. From seeing how it’s touched strangers on the other side of the world that I would have never imagined, as well as artists who I look up to, and most importantly my loved ones. This makes me more excited than ever to keep going. Deepest thank you to everyone who has listened, purchased, or written about it. With multiple releases on various DIY labels and a monthly show on 90mil radio where he showcases sonic adventures of the “gelatinous” kind, he‘s set himself the task of fully immersing the dancer, always blending multiple styles, genres and eras with a penchant for the weird, the wonky, the cosmic and the absurd.
