We had a great time supporting the #GreatBritishBeachClean with Quantock Hills National Landscape @quantock.hills for @mcs_uk Marine Conservation Society. Supporting The Severn coastal areas, picking up litter in a not-so-rubbish area! 😁😎🥾✨📸✅
It might still be May but midsummer is not far away and we're celebrating the return of sunshine this half term 🌞
We had a great game of statues with our creative craft at youth clubs this half term - a chance to shine a light on the sun's seasonal standstill 😎
We'll be at a few more events this half term, including our Wild Wednesday at Wilstock & Stockmoor Country Park. Come and enjoy the @quantock.hills with @heritagefunduk
The Photo Walk exhibition! 😎A chance to see the photos from the people, and places, that make our Photo Walks 😃✨🥾📸
Come to Fyne Court National Trust @ntsomerset to see this wonderful display of photos, celebrating the diversity of life across the seasons on the @quantock.hills
Captured by participants on our Photo Walks over the past 4 years, and selected, curated, and compiled by those participants too... the exhibition looks back at what makes a walking year on the Quantocks.
It also looks at the importance of these walks for many communities, bringing people together, but also providing partnerships and lasting friendships!
Any good walk deserves a well earned coffee and cake stop (a staple for our group), so what better time to visit Fyne Court than when their new soft serve ice cream machine is open! Visit from tomorrow to try out the cafe and exhibition... and excellent combo!
Exhibition runs until June 3rd and we're inviting visitors to select their favourite images, which we hope to be collected in a Photo Walk calendar for next year. Vote for your favourite at the exhibition.
Thanks to all the communities, businesses, partners and funders who have made these walks possible - you have brought so many people together on the hills and experiences that will last long after the exhibitions ends.

A huge thank you to everyone who gathered at Hestercombe House to celebrate the project In the Footsteps of the Romantic Poets! We’re grateful to have shared this momentous occasion with so many of you as we reflect on the success of this inspiring four-year journey.
At the celebration, we had the pleasure of hearing reflections from the project’s coordinator, Alice Crane from SPAEDA; Bill Jenman who led the Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme and from some of the students and artists involved.
We were especially proud of Clara, a primary student who spoke about how the project had connected her to natural places and inspired new confidence in her writing and speaking skills.
Artists, Fiona MacDonald and Megan Broadmeadow of Feral Practice, evidenced the value of creative collaboration when they described their experience of producing ‘The Word for Home is Forest’ a short fiction film, commissioned as part of the project and co-created with students from Pyrland School.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this project possible—teachers, artists, pupils, cultural partners, and supporters. Your contributions have left an enduring impact.
A special thanks goes to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme, and Quantock Hills National Landscape for their vital support in bringing this project to life.
At SPAEDA, we continue to champion the health and well-being benefits of connecting with nature through the arts. We’re eager to collaborate on future projects that foster recovery, resilience, and belonging for children and young people through creative engagement.
If you’d like to partner with us, please get in touch. Together, we can continue creating opportunities for young people to connect with art, nature, and their local heritage.

Have you seen ‘In the Footsteps of the Romantic Poets’ at Hestercombe House yet? 👣 👣
As part of their current show, ‘What Stories Makes Worlds’, ‘In the Footsteps of the Romantic Poets’ tells the story of a 4-year project helping pupils of all ages understand and connect with their local landscape and heritage through making, playing and exploring outside. The project takes inspiration from the Romantic Poets, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William and Dorothy Wordsworth, who lived and wrote in Somerset’s Quantock Hills.
Alongside this the Quantock Landscape Partnership Team have put together an exhibition of the wider project taking place across the Quantock Hills and this runs 4th - 11th Nov downstairs in Hestercombe House. We encourage everyone interested in local heritage and conservation to make a visit by booking entry to Hestercombe between these dates!
Can’t make it to Hestercombe? Explore behind-the-scenes and more artwork from the comfort of your home!
For those unable to attend in person, we've curated a digital gallery so everyone can explore the project! Dive into the artwork and stories online - link in bio.
Tag us in your thoughts or DM us! We’d love to know what you think of the project and exhibition of work.
‘In the Footsteps of the Romantic Poets’ was produced by SPAEDA for The Quantock Hills National Landscape and The Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme, with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
