Are you unsure which land is designated as 'Open Access' on the Quantock Hills? Natural England (@naturalengland ) have an online mapping service which allows you to zoom in to specific areas. Great for checking if the requirement for dogs to be kept on leads during the nesting season applies on your walk. Follow the link in our bio to access the map at the bottom of our Linktree page πŸ‘

Today is #WearItGreenDay πŸ’šand it's all about taking action and wearing green for good. From our logo to our landscape, green is part of our fabric, and we're making sure it's accessible for those who need it most. The initiative is part of #mentalhealthawarenessweek with @mentalhealthfoundation and greenery outdoors at this time of year is a great way to get connected with your mental health. We're looking at the many ways we've worn green across our landscape, from countryside to communities, green is all around us. We encourage you to get into some green today wherever you are on the Quantock Hills. πŸ’š

New Study Finds Pesticides in 100% of UK Garden Birds Tested... πŸ˜”πŸ¦ Many of us apply flea and tick treatments to our dogs and cats every month without thinking twice about what’s in them. Sadly, some of these products contain pesticides so toxic they’re banned from agricultural use 😰 New research funded by @songbirdsurvival and published by the @sussexuni has found these chemicals in bird feathers, eggs and chicks. The study detected pesticides in five familiar garden birds including blackbirds, blue tits, chaffinches, dunnocks and goldfinches. Even more concerning, a second study showed the pesticides can pass from fur‑lined nests to young birds, with traces found in dead chicks and unhatched eggs πŸ’” If you would like to know more, visit the link πŸ”— in our bio to our news page to read what Songbird Survival have to say and their latest press release πŸ‘

Perspectives on April πŸ‘€πŸŒΈπŸŒΌ Thank you to everyone who joined our April Open events, and to our walk leaders and volunteers who make these events possible. Here's a look back at some of the walks we've had over the past weeks, from Steart to Stowey, and medieval boundaries in between, we've been exploring the hills from different perspectives. It's all about celebrating spring and the access we have to seeing and experiencing the hills. Thank you also to @ntsomerset and @wwtsteartmarshes
