80% of the rubbish in our seas starts its journey inland. Let’s catch it before it makes a splash - link in our bio.
A big thank you to players of @postcodelotteryuk for generously supporting our Source to Sea Litter Survey work.
Meet the flapper skate and European eel – two of the UK’s incredible marine creatures that are now critically endangered, yet both still end up on menus right across the UK.
Worried about the impact your seafood choices have on the ocean? Our Good Fish Guide uses the latest research to show which seafood to avoid if you want to protect our ocean. Both flapper skate and European eels are listed as species to avoid.

We want to hear about the wildlife you spot! Your sightings across the UK provide vital information about our ocean’s inhabitants.
We’re especially keen to hear about jellyfish and marine turtle sightings. Jellyfish are important indicators of changes in our seas, and your reports help us monitor the health of the ocean.
You can report your sightings on our website - link in our bio.
Please tag us in any photos or footage you capture, we’d love to see it.
A huge thank you to supporter Petra for sharing this fantastic video of a leatherback turtle spotted off the Devon coast earlier this year. What a sight 😍
World Ocean Day is just around the corner and we’re gearing up for a full week of ocean-loving action!
From 6-12 June, join beach clean-ups, get creative or take part in community events – all building momentum towards the UK’s game-changing Deposit Return Schemes in 2027.
Throughout the week, we’ll focus on how we can support the schemes, demonstrate why they’re urgently needed and help ensure they’re delivered on time.

Exciting news: we’re expanding ocean literacy across Scotland – and you can get involved! 🙌
We’re launching our brand-new three-year project - the Scottish Seas Roadshow. We'll be hitting the road across the Central Belt and Highlands of Scotland with many places in-between, to share the wonders of the ocean.
We're offering everything from indoor workshops and practical activities such as beach cleans and seashore safaris, plus a travel fund to help communities get out to explore their coast. Are you a school, community group or youth organisation in Scotland? We want to help you to connect with the sea and coast, learn about the ocean and take action to care for it.
Sign up for one of our free ocean literacy sessions - link in our bio.
The Scottish Seas Roadshow is made possible with @heritagefunduk . Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to empower communities to rediscover their connection to the ocean, its fascinating marine wildlife and the important role we all play in protecting the ocean’s health.
Thanks to the #NationalLottery #HeritageFund for your vital support.
Happy 100th Birthday, Sir David Attenborough! 🎂
Few people have done more to deepen our understanding of the ocean - and how important it is that we protect it. From shining a light on plastic pollution and overfishing to championing properly enforced Marine Protected Areas, Sir David has made marine conservation issues accessible, relatable and impossible to ignore.
When Blue Planet II aired in 2017, we saw a huge surge in sign-ups for our beach cleans. If his work has inspired you too, why not join us for our Source to Sea Litter Survey today and help drive meaningful change for our ocean? Link in our bio.
Tell us your favourite David Attenborough documentary in the comments! 💙
