Saturday Night at Martha’s Vineyard…
We got to witness the upcoming masterpiece @hbomax documentary, SEEN & HEARD, executive produced by @issarae directed by @giselle.bailey & Phil Bertelsen. It’s a journey through television history exploring Black representation.
We have the incredible honor of being a part of this historic doc alongside legends, @shondarhimes@lenawaithe@tylerperry@oprah@terenceetc and @cordjefferson - to name a few.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the great acknowledgement of our years of work as independent TV creators and to be seen for our early contributions( @dlchronicles ) to the landscape of diverse Black voices today. Thank you to Giselle Bailey for choosing us, to Issa Rae for championing our story, for Phil and Montrel for believing in our story, and to the team at HBOmax and HBO documentaries for saying yes.
To be SEEN and HEARD means the world to this journey we have traveled for our art, but to know that we’ve positively impacted hearts and minds - even with a little of our story - keeps the flame burning. We stand on the shoulders of many of the giants in this documentary and are pulled forward through holding hands with one another.

Day 47.
47 days ago I committed to changing my body after months and months of mourning, the stress of work, and the subsequent weight gain of it all. I looked at a photo taken of me and hated what I saw. I didn’t even want to think post without a little digital nip & tuck. My high blood pressure was high again and I was having a resurgence of random pains and pinched nerves. I felt like I was headed down a hole.
I know if my uncle @nevinjohnson2 had seen what I was looking like he’d have something snarky and funny to say. lol. I also used the thought “what would @cocolasvegas do?” My sis who danced, ran marathons, taught Pilates, and never stopped, even through her cervical cancer battle. I miss them so much.
Every time I wanted to give up and give in I’d look at their photos on our mantle and knew that I had to push through. They were not quitters.
My grief has become my motivation. My lost loved ones are my life coaches, pushing me, challenging me, and helping me do my best. I honor them by honoring my life, my heart, my mind, and this body I have to house it all.

Quincy, what’s next?
In this hustle culture, desperation rules as we all fight to prove who can feed the masters the fastest, trading our lives for notoriety, our joy for fame, and our health for cash. We all seek to achieve status among an imaginary standard of values that have been bred into our society, which only maintains and enforces the fearful, lack-based, greed-driven, Napoleon complex of the unevolved.
We worry so much about what’s next that we overlook the now. The NOW is where the living is. The NOW is where the joy is found. I’m letting the cake bake, the sous vide simmer till the dish is perfectly tender. I will patiently take my time unwrapping the gift of the future while reveling in gratitude for the present.
Till then, NOW is what’s next.
