Dimension 1 : the meaning of your name
Terence means smooth
(That’s what my mother told me @vickie.am.i )
What does yours mean?
I directed the first episode with this question on my consciousness.
What does the meaning of my name guide me towards in the cultivation of my character?
Clearly. I need to smooth it all out at this point.
Malidoma talked about the meaning of his name in - to make friend with the stranger - how it guided his path.
Also. Another question. Did y’all get up and invoke the ritual of the show as instructed? If not you can start over. I’m telling you. It’ll hit different.
That was dimension 1.
DIMENSION 3 and 4 tonight.
……………………………….
In no particular order.
- me closer to the day I was named
- me in front of my first paintings from high school I think
- clips and photos from the episode.
- Union sq. Summer 2013. The year oversimplification of her beauty premiered at cinema village. Read or re-read the copy of OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT my mother gave to me. Initiated this whole phase.
Tune in.

Sharing a snippet of this beautiful film that my boo @terenceetc made to mark this major moment in life. pregnant with a baby and a movie and still learning how to mother both 🤷🏾♀️🌎🌳
I am excited to share my most recent feature in @bombmag where I interviewed @terenceetc on his album, V O R T E X, and how it is a part of an ever-evolving continuum of his aesthetic work, an extension of his (random) acts of flyness. Check the link in my bio for the full piece.
More soon . . .

Reflecting on what was thought to be the last @sundanceorg in Park City after years of gathering in the snow, I wrote a piece for @talkhouse on my experience of the festival over the years. This year’s line up had gems like Kahlil Joseph’s @blknws , @latajh and Aurora Brachman’s Hold Me Close, and Isiah Saxton’s The Legend of Ochi. Check it out. Many thanks to @criticalminded_community for supporting the piece and my editor Nick Dawson at the Talkhouse. 📝
