This year's #FederalBudget fails on tackling emissions and fossil fuel exports, protecting us from climate change, and safeguarding iconic species and natural heritage.
There are some bright spots, like funding for rooftop solar and batteries, a federal Environmental Protection Agency, and restoring the Great Barrier Reef.

Great news: global momentum is building to phase out fossil fuels! 57 countries, including Australia, have backed a faster transition away from coal, oil and gas at an international conference in Santa Marta, Colombia.
The countries walked away with plans to develop national roadmaps to phase out fossil fuels, along with plans to address harmful subsidies and carbon-intensive trade.
But here in Queensland, the State Government is moving in the opposite direction by fast-tracking new fossil fuel projects. This goes against global trends and risks locking Queensland into more climate pollution and higher costs, while missing the opportunity to lead in clean energy.

Our friends at @30by30au are taking this message to Canberra ahead of the #FederalBudget: Australians everywhere want nature protected, and we're expecting to see the investment to make it happen.
Right now nature gets 0.1% of the budget - nowhere near enough. Sign the petition in @30by30au 's bio to increase federal funding to 1%, and commit to Australia's future: .au/1-for-nature/
Today, Sir David Attenborough turns 100 ๐ For so many of us, he was the beginning:
๐ข The first time we saw a turtle hatchling race toward the sea.
๐ฆ The first time we realised birds could dance, forests could breathe, and the ocean could feel like another world entirely.
๐ก๏ธ The first voice that reminded us nature wasnโt something separate from us, but something we belong to - and something we share a responsibility to protect.
Across generations, #DavidAttenborough has helped people fall in love with the natural world. And when people love something, they fight for it.
That love has inspired scientists, conservationists, campaigners, volunteers, wildlife carers, and everyday people simply trying to leave the world a little better than they found it.
At QCC, we see that same spark every day in Queenslanders standing up for the places and wildlife they care about.
So today, we just want to say thank you.
Happy 100th birthday, Sir David - and thank you for helping the world see the wonder worth protecting. ๐

Here in Queensland thereโs so much to love, and so much to protect. Everyone has their own powerful reason for caring about our state - and we'd genuinely love to hear them. Let us know in the comments ๐
Did you know that we pay more tax on beer every year than the tax giant gas corporations pay on the gas they export overseas? That's cooked!
Weโre putting a tax on gas exports to the pub test. Grab your mates and head down to your local this Friday - May 8 to raise a glass in support of a 25% tax on gas exports. Itโs time for big corporations to start paying their fair share!

The wind and rain on Friday night didnโt stop us from connecting with the community at the @QldVeganMarkets and hearing from happy market-goers why expanding protected areas is so important. Our great new volunteers, Abi and Bilal helped to win a bunch of new petition signatures and to get some great nature stories from our friends at the market. ๐
Do you want to get involved with campaigning for nature, but you don't know how to start? Join us to learn about the campaigns, meet like-minded nature lovers, share some free pizza, and practise having the meaningful conversations that turn casual outdoor enthusiasts into fellow volunteers and supporters who want to Protect Beautiful Queensland!

After more than 10 years of powerful community opposition, the Walker Corporation has formally withdrawn from the #ToondahHarbour development.
We want to recognise the Toondah Alliance's fortitude in sustaining such a long campaign, and congratulate the many groups and individuals who spoke out to defend this Ramsar-protected wetland and its wildlife. ๐ #KoalaActionGroup, @BirdlifeSouthernQld , @AusConservation Community Bayside, Queensland Wader Study Group, @Redlands_2030 , and Stradbroke (Terangeri) Environmental and Cultural Protection Association - you did it!
๐ Queensland heatwaves claim more lives than floods, bushfires, or cyclones, but our state's planning system does not recognise heat as a natural hazard. @CAFNEC created a petition for State Planning Policy to consider heat risk, ensuring all future development supports healthy, resilient communities in a warming climate.
