Episode 2 of Thrifting with Pearly saw @mariapearly going crate digging with @davidsonubii
Loved writing this episode because our goal was to demonstrate that vinyl thrifting isn’t just some trendy new resurgence it’s a method of preserving snapshots in time.
We wanted to delve into the importance of memory and nostalgia. How do we define what makes timeless records and why we should preserve them?
The digital age is making us disconnect from each other in so many ways. You can Shazam a track on the low when you used to go up to someone to ask for the track ID and have a meaningful exchange and pay it forward.
David is exploring his work through the lens of memory and cultural legacy via No Signal, Recess and Better Listening & he’s creating more meaningful exchanges around music IRL.

‘Thrifting With Pearly’ E2 was a special one as I got a chance to speak about my parents and different ways in which they influenced and shaped me to who I am today…those who know me well, know I am the exact 50/50 blend of both my parents from my appearance to my personality lmao 🌝💫
I also got a chance to introduce my new found love for vinyl, every single record I own is thrifted, and I actually started my collection accidentally thanks to @davidsonubii lol, which has kick started an even deeper record sleeves, (vintage) graphic design and typography ~ I’m OBSESSED.
