Better late than never—I recently wrote a piece for @the.independent discussing how quickly extreme political violence is becoming normalized in America.
Regardless of where we stand politically, we cannot allow this to become an accepted part of our daily lives. How do you think we can prevent this from becoming our new normal?
Water is power. 💧⚡️
This morning, our LADWP Power Inspection Tour team took a look at the Hoover Dam. Standing right on the border of Nevada and Arizona is a powerful reminder of how interconnected our resources truly are. From discussing the history of the Colorado River Aqueduct to seeing the massive generators up close, understanding the legacy of this engineering marvel is critical to shaping the future of Los Angeles’ water and power reliability.
Field trip, but make it high-voltage! ⚡️👷♀️
Traded the City Hall for a hard hat today on the LADWP Power Inspection Tour. We are out in the high desert checking out the massive Victorville Switching Stations that serve as the backbone of LA’s power grid.
From analyzing historic blueprints to standing right under the 500 kV lines, it is absolutely mind-blowing to see the scale of the infrastructure that keeps our city’s lights on and our AC running. Big shoutout to the crews who work out here in the elements to keep LA powered!
I’m deeply grateful for trailblazers like Cristina Rose. Mentors like her didn’t just break glass ceilings—they paved the entire way for women in government like me to serve our communities. Here’s to the women whose shoulders we stand on today! 💪
Access to water is a right. Infrastructure makes it a reality. 🌍🌊
We toured of the @WestBasin Municipal Water District’s Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility which proved that local purification is the key to water equity.
By investing in local purification like West Basin and our Tillman project, we are:
💧 Cutting expensive water imports
💧 Protecting families from rate spikes
💧 Securing our local future
I had an incredible time in San Francisco attending the California Democratic Party convention with this amazing team!
Public service is truly a team sport. You can’t effectively organize a community without first valuing the community within your own team. I’m leaving SF energized and deeply grateful for the passionate people I get to work alongside every day!
Civic duty isn’t just about voting; sometimes, it looks like resistance. It looks like showing up, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our neighbors, and making it clear that we will protect our communities.
True resilience is found in community. It is our absolute responsibility to ensure that the most vulnerable among us feel safe, and supported. This is what democracy looks like in action. ✊🏽
We delivered hope, connection, and a sense of belonging at the Third Annual ‘Miracle in Mission,’ where we distributed over 10,000 toys this year! 🎁
Councilmember Imelda Padilla and LAPD Mission Division hosted this incredible event for East Valley families, upholding a vital community tradition.
