I want to do the WJPC2025 recap, so I figured I should do EJPC first.
Running up to the EJPC there were some energy draining troubles in my personal life, which didn’t get me to Budapest in the best possible state of mind. My mom
@janneke.sinot made the whole event possible, by joining us on the trip and entertain our kids when Erik and I were puzzling in the same event ❤️(Thanks! 😘)
Then for the events… I didn’t take a lot of photo’s, so I’ve got to work with the press photos (which are of an absolutely amazing quality!).
✨individuals ✨
In the prelims I managed to finish 9th on an easy puzzle that I really enjoyed. I was proud at that result and with my focus during the competition, which normally is not one of my strengths!
We knew the image for the final puzzle in advance and that sure didn’t help me. I knew it was not my type of puzzle - and I let it get to me. Not very surprising, but let’s just say it didn’t get me to a good result 😂
✨ pairs ✨
I got to do pairs with
@puzzl__inge , which was a very good competition practice before going to worlds together as a pair. In the prelims we managed to finish second, only after the amazing
@kathi.puzzles and
@puzzlechiara . The picture shows how happy I was with this result!
The puzzle for the pairs final was a fun image of Budapest that I really enjoyed looking at. Puzzling it I liked less, because the stress (and small table) really got to me and I couldn’t get even remotely close to my best puzzling. The whole hour felt like an immense struggle. I’m very proud that after that struggle we still managed to finish in the top10! But I must also admit that a 7th place in a competition where the top 6 gets a trophy is pretty disappointing too.
✨ Teams ✨
I got to join to top Dutch puzzlers
@tamar.puzzles and
@deliakeetman for teams. We had a lot of fun in the prelims and a lot of struggle in the finals. Apparently that was the story of my EJPC in every category 😆 But I’m glad I got to be a part of this team and enjoyed puzzling with all of them ❤️
