Last week, I was the first person to receive this gorgeous wooden travel puzzle from @speedpuzzling.the.netherlands . I absolutely love wooden puzzles, they are great to slow puzzle over the holidays!
The whimsies always make me smile :-) The puzzle has now travelled on to the next puzzler 💫

@piecerelax gifted me this gorgeous puzzle to try out their brand.
This is the first PieceRelax puzzle I have ever done, and it is very different to what I am used to. The colours are super bright and vibrant, and completely match the colours on the box.
We did this puzzle while listening to the @piece_talks podcast about who to watch at World's, so we definitely went for relaxing instead of speeding. It was super cool to have my team for WJPC mentioned without it being based on the data! We will definitely try to live up to it 🔥
The puzzle pieces are made of plastic, which I hadn't seen before. It provides a very tight fit. It would also make it harder to use for speedpuzzling, because just like with wooden puzzles, you have to align the pieces properly and sometimes give a bit of a push. I know PieceRelax also has a lot of 3D puzzles, so the plastic makes a lot of sense then.
The fit was so tight that you can easily move sections around. In fact, it was so tight, I started to think... Is this puzzle a pizza?
@marilovespuzzles has shown us many potential pizza puzzles with different levels of success, so I had to try it with this one! Go to the last picture to see the result. Maybe this one is more pizza than puzzle?
These type of puzzles are great if you like to hang your puzzles on the wall, because no glue or tape is necessary whatsoever ☺️ I have never really been the type to hang my puzzles, but we are considering it now!
Already looking forward to the PieceRelax pop-up store in Valladolid next week, where we can apparently try to solve a 16 piece puzzle while it is still in the bag! 😯

Tomorrow we have a very special edition of the Euro Jigsaw Jam by @speedpuzzle.eu : A Pre-World's Party!
And it is not a party without the participants joining in all the fun categories.
Just like at the last party edition, one of the categories is most creative use of EJJ wrapping paper. So I have been saving my wrapping paper (or what is left of it after being ripped from the box with pre-competition adrenaline ), and this time I decided to combine it with one of my other hobbies: card making.
I making wishing cards, which I then send/give to people for any occasion you can give cards for: birthdays, weddings, Christmas, funerals, etc.
It was a challenge to use the wrapping paper, because some of them have very unusual colours. And maybe the hardest challenge was that most of my craft supplies are in moving boxes and not in my new house yet, so I didn't have all the stuff available that I would normally use. Like text stickers, normally there would be like a 'Happy birthday' text on the card, but I didn't have those at my disposal.
I wanted to use the paper in different ways, and this was actually the first time I tried iris folding (there is much room for improvement...)
I am happy with how they turned out!
What do you think?

Today, we celebrated a Dutch holiday called 'Sinterklaas,' which is basically an old man who's birthday is on December 6th, who comes to the Netherlands on a boat, filled with gifts for all the children.
I can tell you: in my family, there were many puzzle-shaped gifts. These are the puzzles Jim and I got today. You can probably tell which ones belong to who haha.
There might be more puzzles coming tomorrow 😅
So excited to do these beauties 😍

Apart from the Euro Jigsaw Jam competitions, I haven't really gotten around to speedpuzzling. I did have some time today though, so I decided to finally try for a sub 30 time on one of the postcards.
I did this one a couple of times today, at first only improving slightly.
Then, all of a sudden, I jumped from 30.14 all the way to 26.18. Not sure what happened there???
For science, I had to do the puzzle again, to see if the 26 was a fluke, or if maybe I could go even faster. After two more attempts, both in 26 minutes, it seems like that is my limit for this puzzle 😅
Also, the puzzle is really suffering from being done this often. Looking at it is already enough to make pieces fall apart...

It was a busy weekend, so I needed some time to recover before making this post :)
Last Sunday, I joined a puzzle marathon in Belgium, which lasted 10 full hours (and one minute). We joined with a team of six, so we could swap people in and out and have some breaks for food/drink/bathroom visits. Our team consisted of part of two teams from the Dutch Championship.
You can see the nine puzzles we did on the first picture (though we didn't have time to finish the one with the owl). They got much more difficult as time passed, with the vase of flowers being the absolute worst. We finished in first place, with a difference of only 100 pieces with second place, which is insanely small over the course of 10 hours.
I have much respect for the teams who joined with only four puzzlers who had to puzzle constantly 🥵
It was great fun and well organised. We ran into some other familiar families and the whole ambience was so wholesome. We are already planning for our next marathon adventure!
Unfortunately, we don't have separate times for each puzzle.

Tonight's Euro Jigsaw Jam by @speedpuzzle.eu was a pairs edition with this colourful puzzle by Trefl. Jim really didn't enjoy this one, but we still managed to finish in 14th(?) place, which was alright. We had one extra piece, which really cost Jim a lot of time, as well as a missing edge piece.
Looking for someone who has our missing piece or who is missing the piece we have extra. Let's reunite the puzzles! 🙃
No idea about our time yet, I forgot to turn on the timer.

Jim's friends decided to gift him a puzzle for his birthday 'for a fun night with Inge.' But then, a second gift appeared, because apparently, we needed more of a challenge... Two sets of handcuffs to tie our hands together while doing the puzzle.
I appreciate the sentiment and it probably would have been fun to do on a puzzle with maximum 200 pieces. But I guess Jim's friends don't do puzzles themselves, so they chose a poor quality puzzle (the image is already pixelated on the box, so imagine how bad the puzzle itself is...) with a whopping 1000 pieces. Would not recommend 😅
After 40 minutes, we decided to librate ourselves and continue the puzzle normally.

So, Jim's favourite type of puzzle is a puzzle with Pokémon on them. We have been trying to get the top pairs times for all the Pokémon puzzles we have in our collection. Today, we managed to get the last one, which was the first 151 Pokémon. This is by no means a challenge for you guys to kick us off. Although, I guess it is, because Jim wouldn't mind trying them again...

I've been wanting to do this puzzle for so long now, I finally borrowed it from @puzz_ellen and got around to it yesterday.
Obviously, this was a PR for a first attempt on a 1,000 piece puzzle. This puzzle by @cloudberriesofficial is definitely great for a confidence boost, just like its little brother Cascade.
