PSST x EXIT - Open Session Saturday 30th May 1600-2200 EXIT We’re linking up with Belgium-based platform @psst___ for the Glasgow stop of their UK sound system tour. Together presenting a early open session from afternoon into evening with a combined rig EXIT x PSST sound system 4-point setup for maximum effect. PSƧT is a intersectional feminist platform standing for more inclusion and representation in the music scene. They create learning spaces (workshops & discussions), and physical tools (a database and a community sound systems) to support MaGe* artists, unite communities, share skills and knowledge and connect together. Founded in 2018, the platform is carried by a collective whose members have evolved and will keep evolving. Since its very beginning, PSƧT has always been about collaborations. Open decks will run from 4-7pm and is aimed at all ranges of experience and styles and open to anyone who wants to play some tunes and get involved. Followed by curated sets from some of the PSST members and extended Glasgow and EXIT crew. 👾One more introductioooon before the celebratioooooon: The Psst & friends b2bs 👯‍♀️To close the night, Psst members invited 3 Brussels-based talented friends to join them behind the decks: GOMAR, DJ Jhaya and Acid Lily @gomarig_ is a true digger at heart with eclectic taste and a selection that reflects her curiosity. Influenced by a myriad of genres, she combines heavy bass and catchy grooves from worldwide club culture, crossing boundaries between all styles to deliver hot blends. Always on the lookout for new sonority, exploring sonic treasure from 90s heritage to fresh releases. @jhayance____ is a rising star in the ballroom scene and a beginner in DJing originally from Ivory Coast and born in Brussels. Her dream has always been to share her origins and the different styles that inhabit her in music. This gives rise to an eclectic encounter between Ivory Coast’s coupé décalé and warm, bouncy, slutty vibes ; Belgium’s underground electronic musics ; as well as Black queer rap, vogue beats, jersey, bubbling, bouyon, and more. @acidlily_ is a member of sister collective @_missfitte She describes herself as an operator, sound guru, knob twiddler and ass shaker > (B)Ass Music. 💚Introducing Beirut à la Maison ~ Come hungry! @beirutalamaison comes from a very intimate place. Farah is from Lebanon, and Ibrahim is from Gaza — they are currently seeking asylum in Belgium. With everything happening in their countries, they found themselves carrying a heavy feeling… being here in safety while their families and people are still facing so much uncertainty. From that feeling and a passion for cooking, Beirut à la Maison was born. A need to stay connected, to be useful, and to transform helplessness into something meaningful. For them, every dish is more than food. “It’s a way to hold on to where we come from, to honor our people, and to stand in solidarity with those who are struggling — whether back home in Lebanon and Palestine, or here in Belgium,” they say. “Everything we cook is made with love, but also with intention. Through our food, we try to share our culture, our memories, and a piece of our hearts. 🌀Introducing another beautiful live performance: Imane Guesmmy @imaneguemssy ’s powerful solo performance on the guembri with soulful vocals redefines traditionally male-dominated Gnaoua music. Her music fearlessly blends ancient spiritual rhythms with dub and electronic sounds, defying the codes of the genre. 🔗Besides her solo project, she also leads women’s bands like Tsoukina and Kokriya to inspire next generations to keep reappropriating Gnaou. 💫Introducing a very special live: MONOSUM x Loto Retina @MONOSUM_ is a new dub / ambient / noise crew born in Bristol, made out of @theyisgrove @ej.akin @tlkvox @betholenahan @bipedbiped In the live performances of Brussels-based @LotoRetina , a crowd is formed with speed and fantasy, inhabited by percussion that is struck, scraped and caressed. The samples jostle and jump around like a cartoon. 🧬Grove and Loto Retina met before in Brussels and were willing to create something together for a while, so we couldn’t be more happy when Grove suggested they drive to Brussels with the whole crew and make it happen!
