The Moonâs Daughter is a Pearl, âA grain of sand turned to a jewel, made glossy by moonlight on a mattress of flesh. On clear nights she glitters on the seaâs black mirror, mother meeting daughter in reflections and refractions.
A relationship spun out like a cobweb turned to stars in the first autumn frost.
Pearl and moon-mother light the way for trawlers, raking the seabed where her sisters lie sleeping. Each pearl a smooth imitation of her motherâs care-marked face. Pulled from snags of barnacled coral, a tooth to be exchanged for coins and digital derivatives, hoisted high on crowns, and pinned to cheap earrings on plastic backings. Pearl becomes prize.
Mother sings to her sleeping daughters, tales of arduous travels and sinuous serpents and sea anemones collected in tanks, laid out like brooches in a rich womanâs jewellery box. She tells of obsessions and collections, of greed and veneration, of taking without giving. Pearl children listen eagerly, hard moony shells longing for tenderness.
Moon sighs as she sings, melodious stories of inharmonious love slipping from her hard cracked mouth, her lips parting like the double shell of an oyster.-
Mother-of-pearl, inlaid on a spoon, touching a wet red tongue.
The moon in your mouth, resting on a fleshy bed,â

âA tie, a tie pin, a chain, a pocket square, a pinky signet ring, a button closed or a button opened. Sacred practice before transcendence can take place. Every stitch, adjusted knot, peek of cufflink metal, button or pocket square, the transformative power of a Powell suit worn immaculately. The well-suited gentleman in front of you may be an actor, artist or villain, you just never know - because you may not be in the know. â
Article by Dr. NO
2025 marks forty years of bespoke tailor Mark Powell setting up in the heart of Londonâs Soho. If you see Ram Shergillâs portrait of Mark Powell fly-posted all over Soho in suitably renegade fashion, it is because their collaboration, one of the United Kingdomâs most unique tailors and visionary photographers have come together for this special milestone. Soho is celebrating this in its inimitable style, loud and proud.

âUsually, ballet is a silent art save for the music itâs fuelled by. In this production every whoosh of fabric gliding by a nearby audience member as they make an entrance, or the little audible pointe-taps of the eight-rather-than-four cygnets added to the quality of the piece rather than detracting. A few accidental heel-clicks within the Czardas in Act III rather than the usual silenced âmimeâ demonstrated that at least in some of the earthlier scenes there are possibilities to incorporate more traditional character dance aspects in this more experiential classical piece.â

ââIt does not matter that you fall down but it matters how you deal with itâ is a popular wisdom which perfectly applies to how Naomi Campbellâs model career was propelled by a famous mishap in 1993. Walking in high blue platform âsuper elevated gillieâ shoes in Vivienne Westwoodâs ready-to-wear autumn/winter show in Paris, Campbell created fashion history when she fell smilingly.â - Dr Birgitta Huse

Being the lightest hue of the spectrum, the color psychology of yellow is uplifting and illuminating, offering hope, happiness, cheerfulness and fun. In the meaning of colors, yellow inspires original thought and inquisitiveness. Yellow is creative from a mental aspect, the color of new ideas, helping us to find new ways of doing things.

âIf you are interested in fashion history, textiles and Victorian womenâs lives you need to visit Out Shopping: The Dresses of Marion and Maud Sambourne (1880 â 1910). If you are a fan of Victorian Punch Magazine and Edward Linley Sambourne you will also be able to get a first-hand impression of how the caricaturistâs wife and daughter acquired their dresses, dressed up and moved in Victorian society.â

âA monography is a âdetailed written study of a single specialised subject or an aspect of itâ. Several of the most interesting text(-ile) creations at this yearsâ fair are dedicated towards studying some deeper layers of meaning behind what is visible at first sight. Textiles are, again, a clearly visible and important part of Collect fair for contemporary craft and design â the twentieth of its kind, at Somerset House.â - Birgitta Huse
