Between October - November 2025, we hosted our final* cohort! We chose to try something new by expanding from a 3-day to a 4-day model to ensure enough time for each pillar of WARP to be experienced in a full-day format 🤓☝️
🔑Day 1: Event Planning Fundamentals with @debaser__ - two-part workshop and roundtable discussion to unpack each mentee’s proposal
🔑Day 2: Accessibility Planning with @propellerdance - two-part workshop and guided movement exercises
🔑Day 3: Harm Reduction and Bystander Intervention Training - dual workshop and roleplaying activities led by @cazadorescowgirl , followed by an info session with resources by @maxottawa.ca
🔑Day 4: Day-Of Operations with @skulkd_ (WARP Partner) - dual workshop and interactive event simulation
We are immensely grateful to host our sessions in @artengine (Day 1-3) and @saw_centre (Day 4). Additionally, Mentees had the opportunity to volunteer at Pique winter edition through E.Q.U.I.P.E (Harm Reduction Outreach) and Merchandise 🧠
Although it was bittersweet that the last cohort in this format, we’re not going anywhere! Stay tuned for upcoming programming and other ways to get involved 👀

Meet the Isaruit Youth Collective - a for youth, by youth roundtable within the Isaruit Inuit Arts organization 🎨
Their WARP Project is a youth-led workshop series with Elder consultation, bringing Inuit youth together to create mobile plexiglass and wooden art displays for a rotating gallery in their space. Rooted in Inuit traditions of woodworking and upcycling materials, participants will build practical skills in design, fabrication, and collaboration, with the displays evolving alongside and supporting the ongoing transformation of the space 🧠💡
Meet @ubuntuarthouse — grassroots collective for and by artists spanning Turtle Island to Mauritius 📍✨
Over the years, Saivani and Henzy have engaged with art that connects to traditional and cultural forms of expression through visual, sonic, and digital art 🖼️🤖
Together, their WARP project will take a multidisciplinary / co-creation approach to collective rage and grief. Centering the cultural practice of slowing day and restarting the day, their full day event will be filled with sound making, rage quilt making and tea 🫖 In collaboration with the team lead at We Matter, it’ll be a closed space for Black, Indigenous, South Asian and other racialized folks to express themselves and share experiences without judgement 🫂
Up next, meet Monkey Buziness! Founded by four multidisciplinary artists with diverse backgrounds in film, music, and visual arts, @themonkeybuziness are a multimedia label rooted in community, collaboration, and authentic storytelling 🎭
Co-founder Tchayé will represent Monkey Buziness as a Cohort #4 Mentee. Born from the vibrant intersection of French and West African heritage, they are a bilingual photographer, cinematographer, and filmmaker 🧠 💡
Led by Tchayé, their WARP project is in collaboration with SHIFT (multi-day summit) and the Ottawa Film Festival, and will debut ‘Labia Cinematica’ — curated film workshops and panels centering queer, trans, and non-binary individuals through intersectionality, intimacy, and authentic representation both on the screen + behind the scenes 🎬
📯 It’s time to announce our Cohort #4 Mentees, starting with Danayit 🔑 a storyteller, curator, and photographer who weaves culture, art, and connection into every community event they shape and organize.
Through her project, Danayit is creating a space for immigrant and first-generation voices to share their experiences of home, belonging, and identity through art. Centering collaboration, respect, and accessibility, this event will highlight underrepresented stories while building connections across communities and inviting the public to reflect on shared experiences of displacement and resilience. ✊💌✨🪩
Before we introduce our Cohort #4 Mentees…we want to invite you to the Creative Opportunities Conference at the Ottawa Art Gallery📍on Sunday, October 19, from 10:00-4:00pm 🗓️
This FREEEE event will focus on arts education and artistic development opportunities available throughout Ottawa-Gatineau — and we’ll be among them!
