Krownd, short for Krown Us Kingz, is a take on the saying "give me my flowers", from a collective standpoint. This brand/organization builds community, not only through clothing and fashion, but also through its commitment to supporting creatives en masse. Through events that resemble one-night only festivals to intimate skills-building workshops, and partnerships with grassroots organizations, Krownd will always give back to the people that keep it going.
On March 2nd, 2024, almost 200 of you came out to the Krownd launch event. What began in my garage in 2017 has now become my lifelong promise to you. Through this launch event alone, so many of you were able to partake in a clothing drive/swap/giveaway, co-organized with
@supportsistem.ca . You were able to support and connect with various artists, from musicians and dancers to painters, jewelry designers, and photographers (visit
@krown.d for the incredible roster). You helped donate over $300 to the Palestinian cause. And lastly, you gave a young Bangladeshi woman, trying to find her place in this world, a reason to keep going.
Since I was just a girl, I've wanted to be all things creative. One such avenue is fashion design. So for the past 2 and a half years, I've been working hard to make that part of the dream come true. The purpose of this runway show was to embrace the magic in your journey even when you're not where you know you can be with time. To be creative at whatever capacity you can at a given moment. To do what you can with what you have - with pride. Derived from my personal style, my models' looks embodied my self-expression through the manipulation of a simple tshirt and other accessories made or styled by me. I hope you left feeling moved to invest in Krownd by buying a piece or to try something new with whatever's already in your closet. I hope you left expecting a lot from me, because I promise to deliver.
