Morris Posture and Gait Results.
Morris came to FP 4 months after being in a car accident. He had been dealing with a L5/S1 Disc Herniation for roughly 5 years. Minimal progress through Physical Therapy and Stretching protocols, 7/10 pain. The car accident reaggravated it and he was now in 9/10 pain with sciatica and right hip pain. He had a hard time sleeping and working (restaurant server) and had completely stopped playing soccer and other physical activities. The pain was so bad he couldn’t run when we started.
After 6 months he was down to 1/10 pain and began working full time again and playing soccer 2x a week. Within a year his pain was 0/10 and is still 0/10 2 years later.
First Session: Feb 2023
After Photos/Gait: Feb 2025
❌ 9/10 chronic back pain
❌ Compressed spine
❌ Scapula winging
❌ Kyphotic and forward head posture
❌ Anterior hip tilt and hyperextended knees
✅ 0/10 pain and able to do all physical activities
✅ Spinal decompression
✅ Scapula stability
✅ Neutral hips and core tension
Morris’s testimonial: “Two years of Functional Patterns training with @jeffjalaba and I’m moving better than I did in my 20s. I went from constant back pain and injuries to playing soccer, training consistently, and staying active without the daily discomfort. And after 2 years it feels like I’m just getting started. FP showed me that by addressing imbalances, I can take control of my body and build a sustainable, pain-free lifestyle. Grateful for the journey and what’s ahead.”

Terina started her FP journey on April 24th 2024 with @_joe__greco_@fp.santamonica She was told by a podiatrist she needed foot surgery to get out of pain. She sought out FP after trying PT, chiropractic care, foot training modalities and massage therapy. She religiously comes in twice a week. Her anterior hip shift and anterior tilt shut off her posterior chain and TVA. The compression (lordosis) in her lower back caused her back, neck and foot pain.
After just a few sessions she learned how to stand properly. With decompression protocols and corrective exercise. These are the results. Her pain level went from an 8-10 down to 2 to 0.
Terina testimony:
“Just a few months ago I was in excruciating chronic pain. It was mostly in my feet and lower back and also had migraines and full body fascia pain. It was so bad that I could not stand on the hard ground of my shower for more than 10 min because the pain became unbearable.
I had bunions, collapsed arches and over pronation. I tried everything, massage, buying expensive overly cushioned arch support footwear and seeing a podiatrist who insisted I needed bunion surgery. Thankfully I did not trust this and wanted to take a holistic approach. I went down a rabbit hole on natural movement and started doing feet strength training and wearing barefoot shoes. This helped my feet a little but my back seemed to get worse.
That’s when I discovered functional patterns and began working with Joe Greco. In our first session he immediately recognized the problem was in my pelvis not my feet, explaining that I had an anterior tilt which caused not only the back pain but also the feet pain. After just the first few sessions my pain reduced drastically. Eventually my body got stronger and I was able to hold myself in the correct posture with little effort. My pain went from chronic 8/9 out of 10 to 2 or no pain. Functional Patterns has been life changing for me and I would recommend it to anyone especially those in pain or working office jobs.”

Showcasing some excellent work by @jayo after about two and a half months, close to three.
He came in to @fp.santamonica after being injured through traditional training with lower back pain and sciatica, and we’re very close to eliminating his sciatica 100%. Despite his scoliosis, Jayo is an athlete and saw the value in FP as a one stop shop for all things fitness.
It’s funny, I see “postural gurus” online with 20-50k followers that don’t have a single result like this. This is just our first few months and Jay is getting better every session. Learning something new about his movement, and always trying to understand the implications of everything I teach him. You’ll be seeing more of his journey in the near future, we just wanted to give you guys a sneak peak of his current progress.
After five years, I honestly just now feel like I’m starting to know my stuff. I know I’ve got a long way to go but I’m happy to be meeting and working with people like Jay and excited for the future of @functionalpatterns
Big thanks to @alexandrostefanidis for helping keep Jay going when our schedules couldn’t align. Big contributor to this result. Also shout out to @_nina_chou_ for being our senior trainer and OG at FPSM. She’s a huge reason why we have our track record of overall excellence.

Project Function member @darrellsmiers talking about his experience with Functional Patterns after multiple back surgeries and an MS diagnosis. He’s a staple at Project Function Santa Monica and we’re happy to have him as one of our first Project Function members! Between his intermittent one and one training and working out on our Project Function tech on his own, he’s able to maintain his balance and coordination much more effectively then through traditional methods. Great work Darrell!!

FASCIA FRIDAYS PART 4
Fascia is adaptable…and maladaptable. In other words, the adaptations you make when you move, train, sit etc can be good or bad. Our job at Project Function Santa Monica is to ensure that your fascia is adapting the right way, the way that leads to better posture and performance.
Some of our trainers hitting dynamic work, training the elastic recoil of fascia, the connective tissue that unites your body. They all had pain previously, with @functionalpatterns they’ve developed their capacity to move well without pain.
Awesome work to everyone who joined our free Pain Free Performance class this past Friday! We covered a ton and it was great to hear your individual experiences with pain and posture. If you missed this one, don’t worry, we’ll be doing another one soon!
Movement matters just as much as reps on the court!
We’re very excited to team up with @projectfunction.santamonica for a free 45-minute beach session focused on posture, control, and simple fundamentals to help you move (and play) better 🏐👍
Spots are limited - DM @smbvco to grab yours 😀
