Shoutout to @drawingcenter , @allison.katz , @chelseactehs , @hauserwirth , @my_artfarm and @manuelanyc for shining a light on Project EATS and the communities we serve. It was inspiring to witness the incredible work the students created at The Drawing Center under Allison Katz’s guidance throughout this month-long collaboration. Using Katz’s poster-making process as a foundation, the young artists developed original works that were wheatpasted across NYC’s SoHo neighborhood to raise awareness of Project EATS and its mission. We’re deeply grateful for this meaningful partnership and for the creativity, care, and connection it continues to cultivate.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at Vicente Wolf’s home for such a beautiful evening of conversation, connection, and community.  Gathering in a space filled with creativity and care reminded us how deeply art, food sovereignty, and collective action can bring people together. We’re so grateful to share this work with all of you. Because of your support, Project EATS will grow and donate more than 10,000 pounds of fresh, organic produce this year across our four farms: Wards Island, Essex Crossing, MGX, and The Rise in Brownsville. Your donations directly benefit families in the communities where we work.  Stay tuned for more events! Photos by @lydialeephoto

We’re excited to share that artist @allison.katz is collaborating with students from Chelsea Career & Technical Education High School, in partnership with @drawingcenter , to spotlight Project EATS and our ongoing work in the LES community 🌱 The students are creating a poster that will be wheat-pasted throughout Soho beginning on May 20th. A big thank you to our partners at @hauserwirth , @manuelanyc and @my_artfarm for this opportunity. We can’t wait to see this project come to fruition!

During my time working and volunteering with @projecteats I met a group of truly lovely older women at the hospital. Today is our last day here, and we may not have many chances to see each other again. Some of them spent many years working here as nurses, and after retirement, they still came back to volunteer. Some used to work in management in the New York subway system, after weathering so much of the city’s chaos, and now they are bringing their strength and experience here. Others came here after losing someone they loved deeply. Many of them are also constantly involved in different kinds of volunteer work in their daily lives. They often told me that because they have, they give — and because they give, they have. In a time when care can feel almost unfashionable, meeting a group of people who place it so fully at the center of their lives has moved me deeply. Today, when we said goodbye, we all cried. And as always, I deeply treasure every moment in which people are able to cry together.

Linda Goode Bryant, founder of Project EATS, will debut a new work at the Venice Biennale in the main exhibition “In Minor Keys,” curated by the late Koyo Kouoh. Linda’s project, Still Life, is a multimedia, site-specific installation that includes a 3,500-square-foot urban farm and a new film. The work weaves together contemporary art, climate action, and food justice in one of the world’s most fragile cities. To learn more, check out the link in our bio!

We’re heading back to the Brownsville Pantry this Friday, March 6th, and we’d love for you to join us! Lend your hands and heart as we distribute food to our neighbors and support our community. Whether you’ve volunteered before or it’s your first time, this is a meaningful and fun way to give back, connect with others, and make a real impact. If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to serve and show up for our community, this is it. 💚 PLEASE wear closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate layers and bring a water bottle. Email [email protected] or [email protected] to sign up.
