Our ambassador Miranda Silveira shares some invaluable advice for younger dancers, because training isn’t just about perfecting your technique. It’s about how you fuel, rest, train and look after your whole self. Drop a 💛 if any of these resonate and share with a dancer who could use this today. #REDsawareness #dancerhealth #dancerwellbeing #REDs #youngdancers

Dance careers are short but your life after the stage is so much longer.🩰 What happens to your body during those years can have a real impact on your future, including your fertility. It's time we had these conversations with one another. Thanks to @jenmaree84 for sharing her experience with us and starting the conversation. 💬 Did anyone talk to you about this when you were training? #dancerhealth #REDs #fertilityawareness

So often in dance, we just think of our energy outputs as directly linked to training load. But so many other factors can affect it as well - periods of growth, academic pressures, and basic metabolic functions like breathing all require energy as well. If there is a mismatch of energy demand vs available energy, we fall into low energy availability which can eventually lead to REDs. To learn more about REDs including who is at risk, common symptoms to watch out for and how to address it have it a listen to Episode 127 of The Dance Physio Podcast.

✨The Dance Physio Podcast✨ Episode 127: Relative Energy Deficiency in Dance with Project RED-D On this week’s podcast, I’m thrilled to be joined by Karen Sheriff and Suki McConnon of @project.red_d to discuss relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) and Project RED-D — a global initiative raising the visibility of RED-S in dance. We dive into - What RED-S/RED-D actually is and who is at risk - Common symptoms associated with RED-D - What Project RED-D is, how it came about and it’s main goals - How Project RED-D aims to go beyond just awareness and actually start to embed change within the dance industry This is such an important conversation that every dancer, dance teacher and dance parent should have a listen to. It all starts with awareness! Episode 127 is available now on all the major podcast platforms. And while you’re at it, go give @project.red_d a follow 💜

Understanding the difference between disordered eating and eating disorders helps us better recognize when support is needed—and when it’s time to reach out.   While disordered eating may not always meet clinical criteria, it can still significantly impact mental, physical, and emotional well-being.   Both deserve care. Both deserve attention.   For information on REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency) in dancers, visit: @project.red_d   For information about eating disorders and how to seek help:  📞 1-800-RENFREW (736-3739)  📩 [email protected]   #EDAwareness #EatingDisorderRecovery #mentalhealthmatters

Checking in with ourselves and being aware of what our body needs is essential to managing performance, fuelling and our ability to dance. Taking that moment, those few minutes, to breathe, listen and hold yourself in your own space is invaluable. Thanks to @not.a.bunhead 🩰 for sharing some beautiful advice
