An update on our Richmond move to 511 N. Meadow St. in the Fan:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝. As we prepared to open the new space, we uncovered a regulatory issue with the zoning of the building — one that wasn’t disclosed to us prior to signing our lease. My personal fav of the bunch is the Pentax 645 (autofocus, auto advance, auto + manual metering) it is a smooth, fast medium format that handles like a 35mm 🎞️ Second fav would be the black FE with a very nice 28mm. // SOLD OUT // We recently cleared out a storage locker from an old camera shop on the east coast and were surprised to find a collection of new-in-box Great Wall DF-4 medium format SLRs! They are little time capsules, complete with original box, manual, strap, cap and pleather case. These lovely little cameras are a neat snapshot into the consumer “low end” market in the early to mid 1980s. The cameras are remarkably well preserved as they were stored in a climate controlled facility. They show zero moisture damage, corrosion, mold or mildew. The Great Wall DF-4 is the last iteration of a camera that was based off of a German SLR, the KW Pilot. The Great Wall has a guillotine style shutter where the first curtain of the shutter is also the mirror platform itself! The mirror flips up, exposing the film and is followed by the second “blade” of the guillotine. The camera is extremely simple - shutter speeds from B, 1/30 - 1/200 of a second, film transport using an amber window to see the film backing paper’s numbers and a manual focus 90mm f/3.5 lens. Interestingly, the lens mount is L39 or 39mm “Leica thread mount” so you can mount any 39mm screw mount style lens to these cameras (provided they don’t interfere with the mirror) and shoot macro images. The lens renders nicely - soft and glowing wide open with a swirly bokeh and heavy vignetting, sharpening up around f/5.6 - these cameras are beloved by lomographic enthusiasts for their “look.” Another great feature they boast is multi-format using a mask on the film plane so you can shoot 6x6 or 6x4.5cm. There is a double exposure switch and the hot shoe + PC port sync properly! We are tickled with this collection and are excited to share it with you. Each camera has been cleaned, checked and repaired where necessary. All functions are healthy and they are covered by a 3 month warranty. These are a great way to get into medium format on a budget or for the avid collector to add a great piece of camera history to their collection.

Two full days from today people are gonna get to see a sliver of the world I came from and how it served as the pillars and base stones for the universe I have grown to become. Before the road trips and the Midwest and the wandering of America that has become synonymous with my type of work I was a kid who saw the sun setting in lands I’d never known and used what light there was over my hometown to practice and grow and wonder how to be brave enough to hold a camera without concern or worry about anything expect the heart and the intention behind the photographs I was making. My brothers and sisters were a part of that journey for me. People who were so different and so fiercely themselves that it was a daily question of how to be the same person to them all. How to love them regardless of differences or commonality and find a way to show them what life can look like when you fully embrace something that brings you alive. That gives you the last piece to making your heart outshine the sky past the sun itself and raise that same potential in people witnessing from a distance. Photography was that craft for me and they knew it. And watching the days pass by with them is how I created the bulk of this archive, even before I fully understood the concept of a photo project. How I learned from all of them to let love of something weigh more than doubt of talent or intent. I hope you’ll be there to celebrate it with us. To see something bigger than a family album, and more like a visual autobiography. A single track from a shelf of vinyls waiting to be heard by the friends so many of you reading this are considered to be. Thanks for everything. This is the start of a brand new age. ⭐️THE ONE ROLL EXHIBITION ⭐️ Join us Saturday September 13th from 6-8pm for Opening Night for this exciting exhibition! Thank you to everyone who participated! We cannot wait to share the selected images with the public this weekend! There will be online voting from 6-7:30pm EST on Opening Night to crown the crowd favorite 👑 Link will be in our bio. All participants submitted a roll of film to be processed and scanned by Pro Camera. A jury looked through *all* the rolls to determine which 20 rolls would be selected, and most importantly which single frame from that roll would be in the show! Participants did not get to view, edit, or choose the one images from the roll - instead they submitted all of the frames to see if they could get THE SHOT. The final 20 chosen images will be unveiled at the opening!
