✨🎞️IAN ROBERTS🎞️✨ 📸🌸 Ian started shooting film in the early 20-teens while he was in high school in the peak of the digital revolution. He started out on his dad’s old rebel 2000 film camera, which is still one of his mainstay cameras to this day. Ian has since branched out into medium format with his Yashica D and Pentax 67, and a handful of other Canon film cameras. Ian does not have a particular style that he is confined to but he does live by the “F8 and be there” philosophy. He has his camera on him at all times. Some days he’ll just roam the city after work, take pictures of people or things that pique his interest. Sometimes he’ll have photos in mind but most of the time not so much. One of Ian’s favorite types of photographs to shoot is to take a portrait where he then overlays with a double exposure of flowers onto the person. Cameras & Film: 1. ✨📸LYDIA MANSEL🎞️✨ 📸🐴 Lydia is a travel journalist writing for publications such as Travel + Leisure, Town & Country, and Southern Living. She started shooting film as a way to record her work trips and to capture special moments with her family and friends. Some of the places that she has captured on her travels include: Wyoming, South Dakota, and India. ✨🎞️ANTHONY BALL🎞️✨ 📸🚘 Anthony started his photography journey by picking up the Minolta X-700 from Pro Camera. He is inspired by the many photographers who captured the greatest moments in racing history from the 60s up until the late 90s before the big jump to digital. He always strives to learn and grow, which eventually led him to the Minolta a-9, one of the “last hurrahs” in professional film cameras, competing with the Canon EOS-1 and Nikon F5. Anthony is a HUGE fan of Minolta💕✨ He plans to continue shooting with a (soon to be acquired) Sony a900. One Roll Project Artist Spotlight! 🔦 Mimi Guerrero Minolta SRT101, Fujifilm "I discovered this contest by chance while doomscrolling through IG reels to avoid editing photos, and it couldn't have come at a better time. This past year, I fell back in love with photography. It started with shooting with my Polaroid, then I picked up my Minolta again. For this contest, I wanted to push myself to tell a complete story through one roll of film, and since I’ve always loved horror, it naturally became my theme. Although I no longer practice Catholicism, I’ve remained fascinated by its imagery, which inspired the concept of a “fallen angel” possessing a young woman. I had to adapt ideas due to unexpected location or lighting issues, such as arriving at a church only to find a wedding, or being surprised by crowds at the river. Still, it was a great experience, and I’m lucky to have friends like Powla and Daena who bring my photo ideas to life." (This piece is SOLD!) One Roll Project Artist Spotlight! 🔦 Cameron Hull Nikon FM2, Lomochrome Purple "The selected image is a continuation of exploring landscapes with unexpected color and vibrancy, transforming them in bold, unpredictable ways. The film shifts colors towards red and purple hues highlighting small variations in each scene, bringing dynamic results. The simple palette of a small, rural chapel in Aruba, has been transformed with new colors, complementing and contrasting the architecture with the desert landscape. Perhaps the greatest challenge is that color effects are only known after processing and development. What the eye sees in the viewfinder will never be the final result. In that space of time and chemistry something indescribable occurs. By chance or magic an image is born, made more of what you hope, than what you see. A partnership between camera, artist, and the unknown. That is the undying power of film. One Roll Project Artist Spotlight! 🔦 Stacy Dimapelis Yashica Mat 124, CineStill 800T "Simply put, I don't do night photography much as I would like, so what better way to give myself a reason than via The One Roll Project. This is a very photogenic area that a lot of photographers capture at night, but most iterations of this area are photographed digitally. I was excited to try to see what this scene would have looked like on film and was surprised at how one of the lamp posts provided additional light to the scene on the left. Another thing was that there were utility workers standing nearby doing work at night under the street, so my composition was limited as far as focal length and where I could fit the other night lights along that street. I took a roll of FPP Suncolor ISO 1 I had been saving for a special day and slammed it into my F3 and headed off to find interesting things to photograph. Overall I had a wonderful time, it was great fun making each shot count, and the anticipation of seeing the roll was truly half the fun. Looking forward to next year's challenge!"
