Vertigo and Primal Rhythm Present: Moopie at the Milk Bar! Beijing-born, Melbourne-based Moopie – Matthew Xue – started turning heads in the mid-2010s with DJ sets impressing the likes of Donato Dozzy and Silent Servant on their respective Australian tours (the latter handpicking him to contribute a mix for James Ruskin’s Jealous God release). Developing his daring and eclectic sound, he connects strands from the far corners of electronic music history and pushes them forward alongside contemporary and unreleased cuts: an open-minded approach can be heard on his dancefloors at festivals (Berlin Atonal, Meredith, Inner Varnika) and clubs (Kantine am Berghain, Tresor, Globus. His vision as a DJ is inextricably linked to developing his label A Colourful Storm in 2016 as a platform for new and emerging artists to give new life to forgotten classics. A Colorful Storm was the first to champion breakout artist Mark (aka Klon Dump) while introducing Christoph de Babalon to a new generation of fans. And who else is brave enough to release lost indie-pop holy grails alongside contemporary four-to-the-floor cuts, industrial-leaning experimentalism and drum’n’bass abstractions? --LOCAL SUPPORTS-- MOBIAS 0TTOMATIQUE PATCHOULI Amazing artwork by @trcctrl This is an 18+ event Vertigo and Primal Rhythm have zero tolerance for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or discrimination, harassment and harmful behaviour of any kind. Tonight! Markos aka Elbarto is a music producer and dj from Perth, Western Australia. He was exposed to bass music when he started attending nights and fell in love with dubstep. Almost a decade later, Markos finds himself still rooted in sound system music but his tastes have diversified. His music is centred around three main pillars: intricate drums, percussive grooves and bass weight. If you had to assign genres to his music it would be a mix between dubstep, breakbeat, ukfunky and techno, but genres do not matter. He has released music with labels such as Ec2a (UK), Taipan Trax (UK), Redline Records (NZ), Noise Pollution Records (SP) and Big Ting Recordings (AUS) just to name a few. His genre fluid dj sets have earned him spots supporting the likes of Plastician, Neffa-T, Sammy Virji, Main Phase, Alix Perez and more. Last remaining tickets in bio!
